Thank you for being the voice of reason in this thread. I personally don't really see a problem with this.

Tyran, how did you get your total area? It's quite inflated...

    27.108 * 97.820 = 2,651.70456
I have no idea. You are correct, but I thought that was the calculation I performed.

That is true to some extent, but I would argue that western US and eastern US are closer culturally than they are to any other country with the possible exception of Canada. I would also submit that you and I, in Colorado and Pennsylvania respectively, are more culturally similar to each other than we are to the deep south. tongue

I think part of the reason many easterners have been to Europe but haven't crossed the Mississippi (I have crossed it, by the way; I just didn't go very far when I did. tongue ) is that when one goes on a vacation, one often wants to go somewhere different. Europe is decidedly more different from the east coast than the west coast is.

    Probably? How about definitely.

I don't know - had it working on Vista and Windows 7 (admittedly with some tweaking for the latter - although now I think of it, I wonder if it'd just run fine in DOSBox). I'd just bet a great deal that the same can't be said for Mac OSs.
The Exile games are 16-bit Windows executables. They will not work on 64-bit Windows at all. Virtually all new PCs have 64-bit processors and come with the 64-bit version of Windows 7. As the games are Windows executables, they will not run natively in DOSBox. If one were to install Windows 3.1 in DOSBox, one can play them (on a Mac as well as a PC btw), but that is not something that a company can actually sell.

  8. Natural disasters aren't all that common here in central Pennsylvania. We do get blizzards and minor flooding from time to time. Tornados have been known to occur here, but th are hardly a frequent occurrence. Earthquakes are even more rare.

A6 can be played in windowed mode.
Yes, Avernum 6 can be played in windowed mode and at different resolutions, but as I said in my earlier post, Avernum 4 and Avernum 5 cannot.

I'm fairly certain even a supercomputer would have issues with Civ 5. It can lag pretty atrociously towards the end of the game on my 3.1GHz i7.

Lion does not come on a disc. You can purchase a USB installer or make your own with a thumb drive and the downloadable installer.

Apple is reportedly not going to release a thumb drive for any future OSs, including 10.8. Any formatting of the hard drive would require an internet connection and contact with the App Store. This is only really a problem if you have to completely replace your hard drive, as you will no longer have a recovery partition through which you can download the OS. So anyone not living near an Apple store would be greatly inconvenienced.
You can still make your own bootable thumb drive for Mountain Lion. That's how I've been installing the various developer previews.
