  1. Stone crescents. Check the FAQ for the creatures you need to kill to find them.
  2. I will check tonight, but I'm reasonably sure that there's a lever hidden by a tree somewhere near the NE door.
  3. There should be a lever to pull somewhere nearby. A lot of the game has hidden levers.
  4. I naturally like "Schrodinger's Avernum 2 Site." It's not technically GameFAQs (though it is based of a FAQ also on that site), but it's got nearly all the info needed on A2, though it lacks maps. The crystal source is good, but unfinished, as are the annotated maps. Otherwise, I agree with Kelandon- For A1, nothing beats the annotated maps, and A3 has Rache's site.
  5. Diffuse the nearby crystals. You won't be able to do so if you don't have enough mechanics (~11), in which case you'll have to skip this area.
  6. Seletine has informed me that there is a canister in Rising. Give that area a thorough look. Additionally, I think some of the teachers may be able to teach you up to third level.
  7. Your best bet is probably to try to redownload and reinstall. Sometimes files get corrupted during download. EDIT: Someone else suggested the same thing. Since it didn't work, I have no real idea. Make sure your sound drivers/video drivers are update.
  8. It is the toughest outdoor encounter in the game. They are beatable, although it depends on your luck. If they get off two attacks, then the battle is pretty tough. Otherwise, use haste level 3 immediately after they attack, send your fighters in and maybe use divine warrior once or twice (probably on your priest or mage so that they can counteract other spells).
  9. I believe it absorbs experience points from the party and gives them to the user. Not really worth it, in my opinion.
  10. Increases your experience. If you are a low level it might actually do something for you. Otherwise, you'll get a few points.
  11. No. You can talk him out of attacking, but that's about it. In response to your signature: do chores around the house and for neighbors.
  12. I had the same question when I first played some 3 years ago. This is the response I got (from the website on the top of this page): To get in without a piercing crystal: Go in the right-hand entrance, find the secret passage, go up, just like before. Then just walk north, killing the brigands on the ledges from a distance. After you pass the second group, there's a long hallway to the right. Don't go down it, look for either of two parallel secret passages. (Far Sight will make that easy.) Go down the lower of those (the upper may work as well, don't remember), and there will be an entrance to the main part of the fort. Then kill everything in sight, starting at the north end and working south. Leave to the north as necessary to rest & sell off junk, since it's easy to get back in.
  13. Mistica- refrain from multiple posts. There is an EDIT button for a reason.
  14. Creations gain stat increases with every two levels if these levels are gained by experience alone (or every even experiene level). However, if a creation is made anew, then it gains one stat point for each level it starts with. Hence new creations are almost always better than ones who have been around with you for a while. This is an unfortunate feature of the game that was fixed in GF2.
  15. One quick comment- make sure you've checked your skills thoroughly. You may still have the dread curse but it might be hidden by other skills. Be sure to scroll down all of the way to check your skills.
  16. Ah- pools... now I understand. Also, if you're playing a higher-level shaper, you might experience the same problem, especially with an overabundance of essence.
  17. She wanders around Zhass-Uss and may not be immediately visible. Talk with every servile and you should eventually find her.
  18. You may need to adjust the compatability of the game. Try right-clicking on the file, then selecting properties, compatability. Try windows 95 compatability, or one fo the others.
  19. Make sure your capslock is off. I'm pretty sure that shift-F is the debug menu.
  20. Schrodinger's A2 FAQ (on the top of the board page)--> hints--> FAQ has a list of all the ways of increasing reputation, if you want to go around and get that 100.
  21. The spell circles were a nice touch- it's good to see a deviation from the standard mage/priest or 5 elements-based systems. Blessing pools were a nice (albeit minor) touch, as were the Sylak items.
