Well, since the topic starter was inviting to say what everyone would like to see in the next Avernum, I don't care if Thuryl does not like my idea, fortunately he's not the one making the decisions. Anyway, it's good to be respectful with each other's ideas though... Greetings.

I'm not sure if I really got "the humour" in your message... Are you really talking to ME, or in general. I don't see why we should not make suggestions. If you didn't like my idea it's ok. Actually I'd prefer Jeff's opinion. Anyway...
  3. I really love playing in the middle of a big war and having to pick a side. Also, now that so many things are common between Geneforge and Avernum, how about this: the Shapers need a safe place to carry out their crazy experiments, they find the perfect one: the caves known as Avernum, but there is just one little problem: there's people living there. The leaders decide to just "erase" the avernites. Invasion and... war!! Will the Empire (or the Vanhatai care about helping the Avernites?
  4. Speaking of weapons, have a look at this: 1) Quicksilver Bulwark (Protection 12% Value: 5,000 ) Armor: +12% +1 to Action points +1 to anatomy +2 to Lethal blow ------------------------- 2) Assasin's Shield (Protection 12% Value: 1,000 ) Armor 12% +2 to Quick Action +1 to Anatomy +2 to Lethal blow ------------------------------- Is The first one really *that* better? (in terms of value of course).. I was just wondering..

  6. As I am about to storm Erika's tower, reloading it's definitely not a possibility but thanks for the information. I should have waited for the shade to move I wonder what made Oliver attack his best customer in Avernum...
  7. Hi, so I went to the town the slith leader asked me to go and ask help (to stop the attacks on them and the vigilantes) and the mayor did not help. I went back to the leader and he said something like "it's sad, but you should keep on trying, maybe we can still convince her". Well, after I killed the shade in that town (the one south of Blosk) everyone started attaking me and I had to kill everyone, even Oliver. Now, there is no mayor to talk to and the poor guy in Gnass still wants help, so???
  8. Thank you! now I'll resume my playing
  9. I don't know whether to go West (Erika's ruins) or East (Giant lands) first? I've already killed a bunch of brigands who wanted money at the entrance of what seems the route to Erika's. I also killed Annatolia and checked the secret passage north of Bharga, what to do now?
  10. He is in foreing lands. Most of the hosts are friendly, but not all of them. And also his own mad comrades are lurking somewhere, so he better takes precautions, especially travelling alone.
  11. After you have *crossed* Fort Remote and Fort Spire it is not worth the $25 nor the weight or the trip, I think.
  12. Visa sounds great, and an International Roaming visa even better, just in case you find youself in Vanhatai lands. Many townfolks mention "turists" from the surface, don't they bring traveler's cheques? Also I guess you could have some kind of unemployment fund or insurance. (Just in case the job boards run out of petitions).
  13. There should be banks in Avernum, the poor citizens have to be always trusting their chests and boxes, which are so appealing to certain adventurers... no fair, besides they don't give any interest. It would be nice to have a bank. Even ATMs would be ok.
  14. Thanks Randomizer, I'll check that. After the vanhatai prisoner unleashed the beasts I killed them as best as I could and fled the place, didn't look for any secret passage I thought it refered to the one outside the fort. Thanks again.
  15. I had the same question, sometimes the walkthrough is not *that especific*. I saved before talking to Rentar and tried what I though was the diplomatic way... SPOILER: - - - - - - - - And it was something like "can't we find a solution for this without fighting?" and although Rentar "is silent for a moment" she goes on saying I must be destroyed, then I reloaded and tried the "aggressive" option and we fought anyway. I haven't finished the game yet so I bet I'll see the consequences of my aggressive attitude ;-)
  16. I think I was there 2 days ago, but I don't remember the "free" the drake part. I also killed it, actually she was hostile. In the words of Katsumoto in The Last Samurai: "It was a good death."
  17. Hi, so I fought my *first* round against Rentar and killed the shades. I've also cleared the Spire Fort and I read in the FAQ that after searching the "secret bandit passage" I should confront Hermes and, fight him? I already found that passage (it was empty) and Hermes is as polite as usual. Did I miss anything in my visit to the cave? or I need to go further north to find the answers... (let's say visit the 2 Abyss cities, which I still haven't visited). Thanks.
  18. I am almost done with the Great cave quests. I have explored up to Saffron and Fort Remote, now my question is should start in Spire and the towns in the Abyss?? or am I supposed to leave that for the end and head for Rhentar fortress first???
  19. Thank you! I noticed I was doing things I was *not supposed* because when I touched the pylon in Patrick's There are still like 3 destination slots above it. Actually, I did the castle, the cemetery quest and fort emeral but haven't visited the towns NW (Blosk and the other one). I got the demonslayer but got rather disappointed for the little damage it inflicts, I will have to try it against a demon though ;-) I killed the shambler (?) surrounded by 4 pylons -It was tough- and saved one of the demons with 1 pylon I think just to test my new toy.
  20. Thanks, I read the FAQ and found I had to kill the allies first and then the demon was not really difficult. I found 2 more though, one that changes and another blue one in the east which I decided to kill later, is that blue one tough?
  21. I just visited Patrick's tower and they sent me down the tunnels to kill the tall Lord demon. My question is, should I wait to have the demonslayer blade or kill him now? I tried melee attacks and they barely did more than 10 hp
  22. What I can say is that I love this engine. Playing Exile 1 for example was very difficult for a speaker of English as a second language; it took time to *come up* with the right words Here is easier because the possible questions and phrases are suggested, so thank you Jeff for this engine
  23. I think you should be given the option to kiss her (the male members of the party of course). Adventurers should be more romantic, I would at least give her an apple.
  24. you should just go for the job board and return quickly, the passage is *under* Almaria...
