  1. Another good question. It may be clear to some people already. The rest of you will just have to wait and find out. Some constructive fallout will occur over the next few days.

  3. Good question. No, willfall all into RETRIOACTIVITY.

  5. At this point, it would almost make sense to wait until Apple makes another major CPU/OS shift. Between the PowerPC, OS X, and Intel shifts, they've been leaving old programs in the dust about every 5-6 years now.
  6. Desperance is essentially dead, although it does seem to get a single post every couple of months. On the other hand, it is the only option on the poll that still exists. Score, I guess.
  7. I forgot to post much about my game, but it was pretty successful. Maybe I'll pick it up agains someday, who knows. I trickled off playing around Mertis, but my DT EW Slith (the Slith part is actually important for once) did quite well. It felt much less Torment-ing than previous Torment playthroughs I've done, although a large amount of picking-and-choosing quest order was indeed necessary.
  8. Not true -- in the first three games regular Vlish slow. I don't remember what the ancillary effect of Terror Vlish is in G3 -- it's either poison or slow IIRC -- but the really cool thing about them is that their ranged attack is poison elemental, which is totally unique and extremely useful. Since Vlish are so overpowered, I recommend a mix of 5 regular Vlish and 2 Terror Vlish (which are more expensive, which means you don't make them till later which in G3 means they are permanently at a lower level).
  9. *nod* We've had this discussion before, and we always discover after much arguing that people are using the word "plot" differently. If you use it in a very broad sense that includes the aforementioned careful detail in world and NPC creation and backstory, A2 has tremendous plot. If you use it in a narrower sense that includes only events that happen as you watch, A2's plot is fairly limited.
  10. I'm going to pre-emptively lock this topic. Between the content pushing the line on "family friendly" and now the resurrection of the (previously endless) arguments from ET, let's put this on pause for a moment. Please hold off on posting about this RP in other topics until the matter is settled. This includes any other proxy posts from ET. Thank you.

Wouldn't their Str/Dex be too low to hit-stun much higher level creations? No. In the first three Geneforge games, any creation raised to a high level would have more or less indistinguishable, very very high stats. Due to balance adjustments made in G2 and then G3 that weakened pretty much everything other than Vlish attacks, they are absurdly overpowered in G3. See the Broken Vlish analysis linked from G3 Strategy Central for more details.
  12. I just did several searches of the text dumps for the entire Exile series plus Avernum 1-3. "Eradan" never shows up, and neither does anything when I do wildcard searches for "*r*d*n" and "*rr*d*n". I also checked the Exile III books (the items you can pick up and use to read) by hand and there is nothing there. Is it possible you are remembering a different game?

  15. Really? If so, that's changed from earlier games, when you could definitely set the AI on or off for Int>1 creations. That was true at least through G3.
  16. OH NOES; THE DEATH THROES!
  17. I was skeptical, but Thuryl's memory is mostly good, although the question doesn't connect the dots the way Thaluikhain's does. This came from a BoE "letters to Jeff" type thing: Originally Posted By: Jeff Vogel >6. Are there infinitely many gods on which priestly magics of the abundant >different cults can call upon? 18. I wonder if that parody game is still in the works. That's the one I'd be most excited to see from Jeff, I think.
  19. The Hecatonchires have the hundred hand facepalm, but it is Argus who has the hundred eye eye-roll.
  20. I hate to say it, but Monroe's list is quite good. The recurring, minor Avernites used to have fan favourites, in the days of the original trilogy, but they were demolished by A4 and A5. A4, because the recurring Avernites in it lost ALL connection to their previous characterization (Elspeth, Julio, I'm looking at you), and A5 because they just weren't in it anymore. Certainly Tor Gunston had fans, as did the aforementioned Elspeth and Nance. Let's not forget Anastasia and Mairwen (exceptions to the A4 rule above) either. Also, Scab and Asp -- at least one of them recurred, I forget which one. And Captain Johnson definitely had fans. I could go on...
  21. No, the timelines are reconstructed by us based on in-game evidence, largely by me and Milla. And the discrepancy Dantius was referring to is pretty big, involving the length of time since the Shaper backstory in G1 vs in G5.
