  1. First step: check the System Requirements for G5 and see if you meet them all.
  2. Theophilius: You need to buy Avernum 6 to receive a registration key. Asking for one is asking for software piracy. That's illegal, and definitely not OK here. This is an official warning; continuing to ask for one will result in a ban. We're done here.
  3. They're not cousins. Arwen's uncle, Elros, is one of Aragorn's ancestors, but there are a LOT of generations in between him and Aragorn.
  4. It's possible his death triggers flag-setting in the town script for the Aerie. It's also possible that there is some kind of hard-coded flag set, particularly since he is mentioned in the ending. But there may well be no impact at all.

I really think that makes her a much less interesting character than Galadriel: here she is doing all this General Jinjur type stuff, but in the end she's only happy when she gets her man. Galadriel on the other hand overshadows her male counterparts from the start of her tale. Like Eowyn, she is the "only female to stand tall in those days" but unlike Eowyn, she does not later shrink, certainly not in comparison with her mate. She's in the interesting and fairly unique position of not participating in the kinslaying but nonetheless refusing the pardon of the Valar. She more or less inherited the powers and role of a Maia, which no male elf can claim; she distrusted Sauron in his guise as Annatar when Celebrimbor and the other elves did not; and it was she, not Elrond, who had tried to have Gandalf, and not Saruman, made the head of the White Council. She also gets by far the best ring-temptation passage, particularly in light of her refusal of the Valar's pardon.
  6. That's not true -- LOTR draws explicitly from Norse mythoi; Tolkien was quite open about it. There is even an overlap in specific myths that Tolkien and Wagner draw from, so there definitely is a correlation, it just isn't a direct one.
  7. !!! I sure wasn't expecting it to be a Bartok opera! Yeesh. Bartok = win.

And the results have converged about where you might expect for this forum: very large margins in favor of I, N, and T, and a small margin in favor of P. What's interesting though is that the variance is so uniformly small -- individual types represented may vary and show E, S, or F, but never more than one of those. And more than half the types represented are in fact INT.

And other game designers definitely do not do as you suggest -- I hate to keep citing Eschalon Book II's ever-growing delay, but...
  10. Almarian wine, of course, being a euphemism for the T, F S D of A.
  11. 2011? Does that mean Jeff is actually going to release no new games in all of 2010? The -ette suffix is used in English for smaller counterparts as well as female counterparts. -ess is another possibility for female counterparts, although it doesn't seem to be used to produce new words anymore -- I can't think of any remotely recent words that use -ess, while I can think of a decent handful that use -ette, like dudette and kitchenette above.
  12. The feminine of dude is usually dudette. Just sayin'.
  13. There's this thing called idiom, and it applies to syntax too.
  14. Battle creations are not that much more powerful than other creations. They are probably the best set to focus on overall, but it's really just the War Trall that sets them apart in terms of power, and it is only a little bit better than the Gazer. Clawbugs are nice, but more due to their low cost than any excessive power. If you were going to pick one creation from each tier regardless of its type, you'd likely go with magic or fire creations for 3 of the 5 tiers, and you could do so for all 5 without a significant drop in power.

  16. Conflagration is OK, but with decent Int I find Fireball is usually a better use of SP. Flame Cloud on the other hand is by far the best single target damage spell early in the game.
  17. The major quests in A1 and A2 aren't quests in the modern sense of things, which has been warped (and not just by WoW) into "a mission that goes on your quest log and typically involves going somewhere to do one specific thing, although sometimes it involves collecting items, and it can usually be completed in a single sitting." I made a flowchart once of all the steps necessary to complete the major quests in X2. Including getting information from people, it's quite extensive.
  18. I suspect that having reasonable skill in Battle Shaping is necessary to use Corrupted Thahds well. What's your BS skill?

  20. You're assuming that if sets of ten pages consistent of different threads, they will not be the same as the preceding and subsequent ones.
