Hey gamers, I've been thinking about starting the Avernum Saga. The only spiderweb software games I've played is Geneforge 1-5. I've played these games ever since I was a kid (I'm 18 now) so I think I've done everything those games can offer, sadly. Going into Avernum, what are some things that I should expect, or rather, what is different from the Avernum series as opposed to Geneforge? Thanks fellas.

If you haven't specialized in anything creation-wise, but have specialized in magic, what i find works extremely well is creating a legion of fyoras for very cheap that can act as targets for the enemies, so they aren't focus firing on you. Pick off the enemies slowly and try to get out of combat frequently to make a quick save to you'll slowly but surely make progress.

Being a warrior main, I find the best way to kill Koerner using melee weapons is to use every pod available and beat him down as fast as you can before you sustain too much damage.

If Monarch is indeed the protagonist of G5, it wouldn't make sense because in G4, BOTH the rebels and shapers hated Monarch for letting creations run a muck with no control. The player is given a choice whether or not to release him into the west side of Terrestia (where G5 does take plac), but Monarch would have been hunted down and killed on sight.

Sometimes if I'm having trouble solo-ing a boss, I'd create a fyora army just for fodder.

I honestly don't think the queen is possible being a solo warrior

If playing the Rebel side, is it possible to progress the story without killing Khyryk?

Geneforge 3 get's a lot of cool points because it introduces us to many of the series interesting staple characters. Greta, Alwan, Litalia, Warmaster Karikiss, and of course, my personal favorite, Khyryk. These characters each add a sprinkle of immersion to the overall plot of Geneforge 3 and I'm glad they stick around until Geneforge 5.

Did you complete the secret end-game dungeon, the Monastery Caves? You could see how your monster army fares against the toughest enemies in the game

I actually adore how many different options can affect the overall story and the way people perceives you.

If you give Monarch's papers to the Rebels that's when you'll be locked out of the Shapers.

Regarding Moseh, I think it's so obnoxious that if you're a rebel he'll always drain 2 attributes from you before fighting him with no way of getting them back. What I do now is play the Shaper side until Alwan gives me the quest to repair Moseh, just so I get to keep my attributes the way I want. Of course I kill Moseh and the Barrier Zone Guardians because they're ez af.

I have 3 characters in my Geneforge 4 game. One Pro rebel, one pro Shaper, and one neutral. I tested all three of them in the Trakovite ending and it was apparent you only get exiled if you are heavily pro rebel. My pro rebel character had all the rewards you could receive from the mage in Derenton Freehold, so you could use the mage rewards as a reference for how pro rebel you are being. I suppose if you aren't eligible to receive the last couple of rewards, you'll get the execution ending, but I can do further testing if needed.

Yeah if you could just travel between previously visited islands without the use of the boats I feel like the game would be accepted a lot more lol

Damn rip servilles

In Chapter 3, you receive a quest from a serville master to find his lost servilles. You eventually find them in the Southern Grosch bound by Monarch. Attempting to restore the servilles will cause them to attack you (even with serville mechs), and shutting off the machine instantly kills them. Is there anyway to actually save these bois?

Hey fellas! I want to play through Geneforge 4 again but not as my typical class. My normal class is a warrior that specializes in melee weapons, mechanics, and leadership that gets backed up by 2 fire creations. I've played all playstyles (warrior, mage, summoner, baton-wielder.) Any I missed?

That could work but why would you want to play Geneforge on a console in the first place?
