I assume Exile 3 would have a BoE-style list, because they seem so similar, but then again, I could be wrong. Would there happen to be a bigger list of base items by any chance (perhaps one used by monsters to determine what to drop?), or is it all a town-by-town thing (like, each town has its own stone shortsword, bronze broadsword, etc...)? I wonder if by changing the files, you could add items to the game that way, instead of my method of mucking around with saved game files. Either way is potentially bad, because if you screw up your save game, then you have to start all over, and if you screw up your game files, you have to re-install the game and start your edits all over. Perhaps I'm not paying attention, but what are you using to open up the game data files to see all this? This would be interesting to look through, to see if I've correctly documented all the item abilities and types. w-dueck: Version 3.0 is much easier to use and navigate (not to mention get ahold of). Nice work.

Both I've made. Just for fun, of course. The way the inventory system works, technically you don't even really have inventory slots. Your characters have a permanent set of 16 (12 for E1 and 24 for E3) "blank" items, and when you pick up an item, the game just takes the attributes of the item you're trying to recieve, and applies them to the appropriate blank spot. For instance, you're trying to pick up Demonslayer, so the game takes your top-most blank slot, and gives it the "Two-Handed Weapon" type, applies the appropriate image, damage, and bonuses, and gives it the "Demon Slayer" ability. Then, when you save (because you always save after picking up powerful items, right?), rather than an item reference, the item's attributes are written to the save game file, in the area corresponding to which character/inventory slot. So, when you load your game, it doesn't see "This character has Demonslayer in this slot," it sees "This character has an item in this spot named 'Demonslayer' with X attack, X bonus, which is a two-handed weapon with this graphic and the "Demon Slayer" special ability, and it's worth X gold." I do believe there would be a list of all the in-game items somewhere in the data (like BoE Scenario Editor's item list), but it would probably be irrelevant, because Jeff could've always tossed in some code that changes some of the items through special events (like the weapon enchanters, for instance). This would allow an enterprising individual (*cough!* Me *cough!*) to add items to the game without actually opening up any of the game files, other than their save game. For instance, my beloved Hand Grenades. Unfortunately, this tends to complicate things when compiling a list of every item in the game, because you have to look at every town and special node to figure out which items are there, and then figure out which ones haven't been added to the list, whereas in a game like Baldur's Gate, you could just open up the game's data files, and write down all the *.itm files. I would, however, think that this would allow Jeff to populate his game world with unique items in a simpler manner (instead of having a new item entry for each unique item, just give the player a regular item, but alter it). I hope that wasn't overly complicated and/or long...

Other Spiderweb games only supply the number of the item, whereas E2 supplies all data about it. This means that towns may contain wholly unique items. I think perhaps we are speaking of two different things. I'm referring to editing the items themselves, rather than adding the in-game items to your characters. I would explain how the inventory/item system works for the Exile series, but that involves discussion of hex-editing save game files (even though such a discussion would not instruct one how to do so, and steers VERY far away from piracy), and once again, I'm lost in the gray area with no directions on which way is black, and which is white.

  5. Quote: I would want a guitar! I put one on a Blades before the poor innocent mac os 9 got raplaced. It cast charm, but in a perfect world it would cast a superpowerful mass charm spell so if you stole something and someone saw you you'd just play a little song and everyone would love you again. Has someone possibly been watching some Danny Phantom, more particularly, the episodes "Fanning the Flames" and "Pirate Radio?"
  6. I can invent items for the Exile series (mainly Exile 2). It just takes the right level of 1337|\|3$$. I'm not sure if I can discuss it here without getting banned or canned, so I won't go any further into it here (unless a mod happens to dictate that it's okay, better safe than sorry).
  7. Quote: Oh, and Eldibs doesn't mean the editor. At least, not the editor that Jeff Vogel made. Correct. Generally, around here, nefariousness refers to unsupported cheating that is usually against the CoC to talk about. And nefariousness can get you a lot more under the weapons category than the editor can, like hand grenades, for example. Quote: But who seriously can spare 27,000 gold for one extra bonus point on your Alien Blade? A very dedicated Exile player. If you get the Magic Wave Blade from the Editor, you can augment it. Jeff forgot to make the editor set the "Magical Item" attribute on them. I find that Enhanced Magic Wave Blades can make very effective weapons. Unfortunately, this is the only weapon from the Editor that you can do that with.
  8. I just use, um, nefariousness to upgrade my weapons. It's a lot cheaper, and gives you many more options.
  9. Quote: I look like you, but much more pale. I can't escape from wind and hail Answer: SNOW I got "statue" on that one. I suspect "sno" will work as well, due to the 3 character words thingy. I assume it's short for "snowman."

  11. I hate to spam, but I just can't let this go (I guess it's the redneck in me): <spam type="text/pointless"><textwall> Quote: Ah, but i said calibre, and calibre means how powerul it is Shotguns aren't measured in calibers. They are measured in gauges (the only exception to this is the .410, which describes the bore size). The smaller the gauge, the larger the bore size. Moreover, caliber doesn't necessarily mean how strong it is. Caliber is just bullet width, measured in inches. Therefore, a .22 caliber bullet has a bullet size (minus the case, powder, etc...) of .22 inches. Caliber doesn't show how long a bullet is, how big its case is, or how much powder it has behind it. For example, a .223 bullet is .223 inches wide, and a .22 bullet is .22 inches wide. Not much width difference, huh? Well the .223 bullet is longer, and has more powder behing it, giving it more power. The .223: The .22: Plus, not all standard bullets are measured by caliber. Some are measured in millimeters, width by height. For example, the 9mm bullet is actually 9 x 19mm, and once again, that doesn't state how much powder it has. Also, there are variations on ammunition. For example, 9mm can refer to 9 x 19mm Luger or Parabellum, or it could refer to 9 x 18mm. Just like 7.62 can refer to 7.62 x 39mm, or 7.62 x 56mm. With several bullets, higher numbers mean a stronger bullet, but not always. A 7mm Mauser is a stronger shell than any standard 9mm, and a .270 is comparable in strength (if not stronger) to the .357 magnum. Quote: U dont gotta a head no more! I murdered you long before you pulled out your tiny shotgun. </textwall></spam>
  12. Wow, that's a tiny shotgun. Now if you had a 1 gauge shotgun, that would be huge. The smaller the number, the bigger the shotgun. *pulls out Mega Missile Launcher +5 and decimates cybertron13* Yeah, if somebody who has the A3 and G2 trainers will send them to me, I'll host them for all to download.
  13. Personally, I find playing "Night of a Million Zombies" in Half-Life 2 helps me blow off steam more than anything. It's loads of fun. Sawblades everywhere that you can hurl, explosive barrels, plenty of ammo, an infinite army of zombies, etc...
  14. If someone will e-mail it to me, I'll host it. eldibszankroth AT hotmail DOT com *murders cybertron13 for his table size altering quadruple posts, then slips back into the shadows*
  15. Not really. Sometimes swearing is necessary to get your point across. Now if his sentence was mostly swear words, then he would need the soap. Personally, I would have used another word, one that begins with a 'b'. But maybe that's just the effect of locational differences visible in speech.
  16. Couldn't you just use the PM system to talk about the nefarious methods?
  17. Personally, I'd rather go against Garzahd with 5 Rentars, but I'm not sure if that's possible. Quote: Where were you finding Fire Orb Necklaces, Shields of Khar, Shielding Crystals, and Lifesaver Amulets in Chapter 3? I'm quite interested to know - I sure didn't see any in Mancuso. : ) You buy them before you leave Chapter One at Waldby's. I had Mithril Chainmail and Magic Waveblades for everyone before I went to the Vahnatai Lands.
  18. I wasn't even aware it had music. But then again, I don't think it would matter, as I turn all the sounds off and turn on my music when I play E2. </leetness>
  19. That's true. It doesn't matter how great the game is if it doesn't sell. Kinda reminds me of something the Technology director for my High School said: "I'm not trying to fix computers, I'm trying to make people happy." </leetness>
  20. Quote: Maintaining the kind of servers necessary for an online multiplayer game is expensive Perhaps the multiplayer could be made similar to first person shooters and traditional RPG's, where one player starts a game and the others join in. That would eliminate the server cost. Multiplayer doesn't necessarily mean Massively Multiplayer. </leetness>
  21. Thanks. Personally, I almost never have my AV program on. It uses up valuable system resources. Instead, I just do a full system scan every now and then. My PC runs better that way. Now I just need to find that song Thralni wrote, and my entire site will have been restored. Edit: You can get to my site by clicking the word ' horrible ' in my sig. In closing: Boycott Angelfire!!! </leetness>
  22. Okay, I've found a new host for my page, and I have the trainer uploaded. Hopefully, they don't hate freedom of speech like Angelfire does. My site is now here , and the trainer is now available here .
  23. Personally, I prefer Exile 2. To me, the surface world just doesn't look right on the Exile engine. That being said, I'd say the Alien Blade is one of the best one-handed melee weapons in the entire series. Personally, I prefer the Shocking Wave Blade from E2. </leetness>
  24. 6 should be the max, with Boots of Speed and a Ring of Speed (two rings of speed won't stack). Boots of Speed behave like the ring. Those are the only two AP-boosting items that I know of.
  25. Quote: P.S. Where should we put this file? Does this work for the unregistered version? Just put it wherever you want. Run GF3, the hit alt-tab, and run the trainer. It should work with the unregistered version, since it's the same program as the registered version. Edit: My website is currently down, because Angelfire is trying to have a monopoly on Freedom of Speech (unfortunately for them, they'll have to fight GameFAQ's for it). So the trainer is temporarily unavailable, until I find a webhost that isn't offended by free speech.
