Kyshakk Koan Tcheedchee
Hello, I've had the message "You gain new insight" at least twice after drinking from basins with potion. I have looked at skill points and traits, but I can't see what this message means. How does it show, that my partymembers have gained new insight? Where should I look for the effects? (Is it just ironic?)

Kyshakk Koan Tcheedchee
Wow! Trickckie! Can't learn enough…
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
Insight basins give a base 400 XP adjusted downward by the current average party level. Kill a party member to help the others.
Unflappable Drayk Toby-Linn
Damn, I mostly avoided the basins.....they usually were poisonous or acidic! Now I see the error of my ways. Next time, I will go through the hassle of saving before each basin!
Kyshakk Koan Tcheedchee
Hi Randomizer, maybe I don't get the joke… ? That would be heading for single player in the end. ???
Well-Actually War Trall Synergy
Any of your PCs who is unconscious doesn't count when skill points are given to your party, so all the skill points will be distributed among the remaining conscious ones. Not a joke...strategy! You can revive the unconscious PC later. -S-
Magnificent Ornk Dikiyoba
That sounds like it'll only work if you hate one of your PCs. Dikiyoba. Edit: Typo.
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
It also works for players that want to concetrate XP in a character that needs to be a higher level because of XP penalties or it will help make a level to get a needed skill or spell. Kyshakk Koan Tcheedchee
pretty tough… It'd also work to let one be killed towards the end of a fight. When you're sure, you're gonna win. On the other hand, I think it's quite critical to let one character lag behind. My slith did have a lot of trouble in the Drake Pillars/New Harston - area, because of his 'race-penalty'. Also in the beginning of the game, I had chosen to give him 'nimble feet', because I thought an Archer-Pole-Fighter might need it… Meanwhile he's become pretty useful, because we found some nice weapons for him and especially, because he has aquired a lot of battle disciplines. But boy, did that take dying! I still can't send him for meat-shield-actions. Actually all my characters have certain flaws which make them dependend on the others. If any of them dies early in a fight I never win.
Understated Ur-Drakon Sudanna
Sliths don't have a race penalty, to Nalyd's knowledge.
Magnificent Ornk Dikiyoba
They do to their experience gain. Dikiyoba.
Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
Races give bonuses to things other than experience and penalties to experience. That's how they work. Everyone is better than humans. —Alorael, who suspects Jeff of not so subtly hating humanity. The Scorched Earth Party was something of a giveaway. Understated Ur-Drakon Sudanna
Okay, Nalyd usually doesn't consider that a penalty, and it's much less significant of one than it sounds.
Kyshakk Koan Tcheedchee
Well, than maybe it's only the nimble feet penalty. He got 12% experience-penalty, and he lags behind about five levels. On the other hand by now it doesn't really count anymore. He's got a good choice of battle disciplines. The first 10 ones… He really turns a lot of fights by now. Hatchling Cockatrice Mea Tulpa
That's a bigger lag than is normally seen. Are your other PCs humans with disadvantages?
Kyshakk Koan Tcheedchee
No, not at all. I have a human berserker, a human priest, a slith scout and a human hedge wizzard. The only trait I chose was 'fast on feet' for the slith. That's all.
Magnificent Ornk Dikiyoba
If the slith got killed a lot, then he would miss out on experience while unconscious. That might be part of it. Dikiyoba.
Kyshakk Koan Tcheedchee
Hey really! That sounds reasonable! The solution always seems so easy, after hearing it!

So he has a 32% total experience penalty with nimble fingers. By the end of the game, normally he should be about 4 levels behind where a human with no traits would be. Sounds like he has been missing out on extra experience while unconscious as well. -S-
