Tenderfoot Thahd Strayer
What exactly does stunning do? Does it cause a foe to lose action points?
Burgeoning Battle Gamma olop4444
Yes.
Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
It's only really useful if you stack on a whole lot of it at once. A swarm of three or four hasted Glaahks will lock down most opponents.
Rotghroth Rhapsody Taliesin
Or Stunning Blow in Avernum 5. Other than that, stun generally doesn't affect anyone a whole lot. Of course, if you're hasted to have 10 AP and you get stunned, you probably lose your second attack.
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
Ghasts will usually cause an opponent to lose the next round of attack (mage spell - minor summon sometimes).
Rotghroth Rhapsody Taliesin
Ooh, that sounds fun. Speaking of which, how do summons affect the experience you get from enemies? My pet shade struck the killing blow on the Slithzerikai Horror, and I'm hoping I didn't miss too much XP (I know I got a little).
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
Jeff seems to have fixed it so you no longer lose XP if a summoned does the death blow. I remember redoing fights because of this.
Tenderfoot Thahd Strayer
I've had stunning blow for a while, and it hasn't seemed to do much so I never use it. Does it lay on a few extra points of "stun" than your standard attack?
Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
Stunning Blow isn't bad. Against monsters that aren't highly resistant to stun, one or two Stunning Blows will usually make them miss a turn. It's possible to stunlock some bosses with a combination of slowing and Stunning Blow.
