BoA Update 4-5-04

Recommended Posts

Will try to put out 1.0.1 of the editor soon. I will fix broken outdoor section importing, add some minor fixes, and give improved documentation.

Windows editor is ported. Windows game porting is well along.

Hopefully, the Windows version will be out in 2-3 months.

I did. But did you think I could stay away for long with the promise of BoA in a few months? Yeah, right. laugh

I've been lurking for a few days deciding whether to give in to the temptation and start posting actively.

Edit: I also need to change my name. Seriously. I thought this one up when I was, what, 11 or 12? Hehe.

While you're making changes to the editor...can I possibly put in a (hopefully) quick request?

In all the places where you can type in a number (eg, the "set special encounter" dialog box, where you're prompted to enter the number of the special node to be called), the editor puts the current value (or zero) into the field, but the text in the field is not selected for you. This means that you have to use the mouse to select the text before you can replace it with the desired value, which slows things down a lot.

Any chance you could have the dialog box building block automatically select the text of the field, so that the user can simply type in the new value, without than having to select the existing text first? Hopefully this would be a simple change to the underlying dialog box engine, rather than having to do it for each dialog box in turn...

Cheers,

- Erik.

I'm pretty sure Jeff has answered that elsewhere. You can.

Edit: Flamefiend beat me to it! D'oh!

Flamefiend, great to see you! I was actually up in your neck of the woods (Canberra) recently for a wedding. I counted all the straight roads.

One.

How on Earth do you keep a sense of direction in that city?

You found a straight road in Canberra?! WHERE?! I must see this marvel of engineering! wink

Yeah, Canberra is like that. Rule of thumb: In Canberra, if you want to go left you should go right, and vice versa. laugh

Oh, and I forgot to say hello to TM. Hi, TM. They're still calling you Trademark, I see. smile

And to give this post a semblance of on-topic-ness: Jeff, I think the support is pretty much unanimous for releasing the Windows editor now. Pretty please? I really don't want to have to port it myself. :p
