Tenderfoot Thahd snes9dx
I have only played Blades of Avernum. Can anyone give me a basic decription of the history and geograpy of the world?

Magnificent Ornk Kelandon
Read the descriptions of Avernum 1 , Avernum 2 , and Avernum 3 . At that point, Luz\'s maps and the Encyclopedia Ermariana can probably fill in the rest of the details.

You've got some great notes about the history of Avernum on your own webpage.
Easygoing Eyebeast Imban
Hawk King, I really don't see why he should do that. They're two very different questions, and this one in particular often spawns some debate about what should be accepted for geography.
Magnificent Ornk Donald Hebb
Vantanas.
Magnificent Ornk Aran
Vantanas indeed. So?

Magnificent Ornk Kelandon
He was wrong. Ignore it.
Magnificent Ornk Donald Hebb
There's discrepancies in what Vantanas is like. Or better yet. Doston.
Magnificent Ornk Aran
There's a discrepancy in whether Doston exists, yes. Fortunately, this is made a bit more easy by Doston's rise from the seas (if I remember correctly) being set into the far future of Ermarian (game-wise). You don't need to bother with the continent as long as your scenario is set at least somewhat close to the time period in the game. Edit: Grammar. Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
I don't recall it ever being established that it literally rose from the seas. We just decided that it hadn't been discovered at the time in which the Avernum series took place.
Magnificent Ornk Aran
Mh. I'm certain that there was one continent that either sunk or rose (or sunk and reappeared) during some kind of cataclysm, in the Arena timeline. Was that Aizo? Easygoing Eyebeast Imban
Aizo had a large hole blown into it during the Arena timeline, but that was hundreds and hundreds of years after the fall of the Empire, and thus far outside the setting of Blades, really. Doston may or may not have risen from the seas, but it was not discovered at the time of BoE. It was the original setting of the Arena.
Easygoing Eyebeast *i
Doston is really a state of being or way of life more than a continent if you know what I mean.
Magnificent Ornk Aran
Ah, but the question really is: Is it a way of life to be condoned, a state of being to be attained?
