I broke my game, argh ;)

Recommended Posts

Okay. So I was playing A3 while I guess I was pretty sleepy. I went into a room and closed the door and stole something. I didn't even know it was a shop (I forgot the layout of the town), and I didn't see the shopkeeper til after I had stolen from her, because she stands still in the far corner. Okay. Fine. Whatever. Except I'm like level 10 and can't even get out of the town to run away. But I know there's the character editor so I use it for the first time and load my save and click reset all hostile towns, which gives me a handy thing saying all hostile towns will be reset now.

I click save changes.

I reload my save into the main game... nope, everything is still hostile to me. I only have this one save as I was playing angband style (one save file) for kicks.

I... argh. I will have to start again if someone can't tell me what to do to actually make the editor's changes stick. I really did this all by accident and I've used the avernum editors before (I have the trilogy disc) and had it work... but not with A3 yet... am I really going to have to start over because I was that much of a dumbass? Is this a known bug? Any help?

I suck.

Okay, first thing is you need to make sure that when you hit 'Save Changes', which you did, so that's good. Next, the changes probably won't take effect until you load up the town again (like if you were to leave and re-enter).

So, I recommend using the Take Out of Town option in the character editor, then going back into the town and seeing if it's still hostile.

And it's worth noting that when you use Take Out of Town and load up your game, you won't actually see your party anywhere in the outdoors, because you're still on the space where the town is. So you'll have to walk out away from the town as soon as you load the game.

EDIT: Curse you, Dikiyoba. :p
