Curious Artila FrenchFries
After some consideration, I'm thinking about getting the Spiderweb Software Complete Pack on Steam. I honestly do not think I'll have enough time in this life to do them all, but I sure won't go hungry if I desire any old-school (modern term- tactical) RPGs. After reading around in the forums, I noticed some of these old games can't be played in a window. I think I can deal with that, but do any of them have problems with the Steam overlay? At the very least, I need to be able to chat while doing a game.
Understated Ur-Drakon Earth
don't think you can chat with others while playing Steamed SW-games (those which can't be played in window).
Easygoing Eyebeast Triumph
I don't know which games you're asking about, or whether these instructions are compatible with Steam, but these instructions might be helpful.
Easygoing Eyebeast keira
It's possible that it could work. Adding non-steam old SW games probably won't give you an overlay (just tested with BoA), since Steam uses OpenGL/DirectX detection to determine if it's a game or a menu or something. However, if it's purchased via Steam it should be coded in. Hopefully someone can verify this.
Understated Ur-Drakon Tyranicus
One thing you can definitely do is alt-tab out of the game.
Magnificent Ornk nikki.
I just tried this with Nethergate: Resurrection, and I couldn't access the overlay.
Understated Ur-Drakon Tyranicus
I just tried this with Nethergate: Resurrection, and I couldn't access the overlay. N:R can be played in a window though.
Understated Ur-Drakon Tyranicus
I just tested Avernum 5, which uses a different engine than N:R, but has the same engine as the older Geneforge games. The overlay does not work, but you can alt-tab out of the game, and Nalyd's guide to play Geneforge in a window will work too.
Understated Ur-Drakon Earth
yea alt tabbing works although many times I couldn't get back to game (A5 and later) after getting out of there with alt tab so better save 1st and then use alt tab.
