Fledgling Fyora Chowster
Now that Avernum 1 has been "re-made" for steam, will we be seeing the whole series "re-made" in the next few months/years? I was thinking of buying 2 and 3 since I just finished 1 from buying it about 10 years ago, but if they are going to get updated I might as well wait. Hatchling Cockatrice Aoslare
Avernum 1 was rewritten entirely with a new engine and other major changes, not just for Steam -- although the fact that it is now Steam-compatible is certainly a benefit. If these follow the pattern of past Spiderweb games, the new versions of A2 and A3 will likely come out in about 1.5, and 3.5 years, respectively. It's possible that they will come out sooner for some reason, but I wouldn't count on it.
Understated Ur-Drakon Earth
A2 and A3 remakes will come out someday but between those are also Avadon 2 and 3 so it'll take few years like House said.
Garrulous Glaahk dave s
It shouldn't take so long, now that the engine is done. but then again, it probably will. I know Jeff is a one man team, but I do get frustrated waiting. especially considering the amount of recycled graphics and dialogue in the remakes. Avadon is a completely new script, so that's understandable. But Avernum 2 and 3 already have 80% of the script done, the engine already made, and the majority of graphics will be lifted from A:EFtP, Avadon and A 4-6. Understated Ur-Drakon Earth
still betatesting needed (for windows and osx versions) and other stuff and mostly 1 project (game) at a time.
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
Jeff always tinkers with a game so small problems with the engine can occur. Extensive beta testing is needed since a minor typo can make a scripted fight not work.
Fledgling Fyora Chowster
I knew that they weren't made exclusively for steam, I know I made it seem that way, I apologize. But if they are going to take a few years... I may just have to buy 2 and 3 now. I kind of have the "Avernum itch."
Easygoing Eyebeast Jerakeen
Well obviously the antiquated engine doesn't bother you, so go for it. They're totally worth it.
Understated Ur-Drakon Earth
engine was old even when I played 1st trilogy thru (started at 3rd and then 1st and 2nd) and it didn't bother me.
Ineffable Wingbolt Arch-Mage Solberg
They are great games to play even with an outdated engine. I liked them then and still play them from time to time. Post #66...oh crap!
