Strategy Guide Question

If I purchase the Geneforge series, what are your thoughts about buying the Strategy Guides as well?

 

Are they necessary, needed, are they really beneficial, and do they offer things that not be known otherwise?

Short answer: Not really.

Long-er answer: The guides have zone maps, which can be useful, but most of the strategy and item locations and walkthroughs can be found online for free. If you feel like supporting Jeff, buy them, but it's really not crucial.

Dikiyoba has always gotten by with walkthroughs and the message board. There's not a lot in the hint book that you can't get elsewhere.

Oh, and there are zone maps online for G1 at Riibu's site, and there may be some later games' maps online somewhere I haven't found, so you aren't totally missing out even if you don't buy it.

I, for one, never used any of the walkthroughs, strategy guides, or the message board, and I got through all the games but A4 just fine.

They are nice if you don't want to go online for information, but except for the maps there is more here. Also you can get advice that isn't available in the guides.

Thanks everyone, this really helps. I am one that many times buys strategy guides but never uses them. I like to try to figure things out on my own, and many times only use guides to make sure I found every side-quest.
