You find remnants of the original shapers so old the the Sucia island researchers didn't know that they exist. So this puts the shaper empire as being very old. G5 really, really, screws with the timeline, saying things like Isenwoods Spire is only a few centuries old, and Mera was taken about three centuries ago. G2 is 5-10 years after G1, probably closer to 10, and we know that G5 is no more than a few years after G4. Looking at what Alwan and Greta and Litalia say, there are clearly a few years between G3 and G4 -- but not too many. Maybe 5-10, again. So far we have a range of about 12-25 years, not counting the time between G2 and G3. Plus, they weren't taking as many precautions. The Shapers didn't want to create rogue types. The researchers in Drypeak didn't care whether a creation type was independent-minded or not. Dikiyoba. It's also expressly stated that the new creations are just modified versions of old ones, rather than being designed from scratch.
