  1. Too late. I have already reinstalled. Thanks.
  2. Yes, the multitasking bar is empty of all apps except Avadon. Looks like reinstalling is the only way. Thanks.
  3. I have been playing the latest version of Avadon on my iPad 2 3G 16GB running on iOS 5.1 since Avernum's release. I have completed Nathalie's quest and had started on the second Monitor Shiraz mission. Then suddenly, Avadon crashes whenever I start it. I have gone into the multitasking bar to kill Avadon manually, rebooted my iPad by pressing the power and home buttons until the Apple icon appears, several times, to no avail. Each time I start Avadon now, the map screen with Redbeard will appear with the loading bar. It loads about three quarters of the way before crashing to desktop. Is there any way to fix this or is the only solution to delete this app, reinstall and replay the entire game from scratch?
  4. I think you might be right. Strange though as I assumed the reason for the laggy performance was because the developer was using aome sort of Spiderweb Virtual Machine to run his scenario files. If these are run natively and not on top of VMs, what could account for the laggy interface?
  5. Not a bug. You are playing it wrong. After offing the Shadow Walker, return upstairs to the ground floor. The drake is waiting there.
  6. @Sir Hazar The pauses between combat turns happen on my iPad 2 3G 16GB running iOS 5.1 when it is the only app running and the system had just been rebooted. I am unsure if this is due to the latest patch or if it has existed since Avadon 1.0 BTW, I was not being facetious when I suggested VNCing into your PC. As a turn based game, Avadon should work well over such a connection. It works well enough when I do it for Microsoft Word.
  7. iPad's not a PC... There is a way to play the PC version if you are really keen. Install one of the paid or free remote desktop apps, such as Logmein or Teamviewer, and play Avadon for the PC on your iPad. Not a big deal unless you are trying to set up an SSH connection for your VNC session to tunnel through.
  8. @Beer and Motor Oil Totally agree on Geneforge, KotOR and Call of Duty 2, but could never understand why so many liked Final Fantasy Tactics... Personally, Fallout 3 was awesome. I really liked its turn based combat and branching storyline. Maybe Spiderweb can incorporate something like that into its combat system, so that we can choose to hack off the ogre's left arm or to make a called shot to its head.
  9. @No Elocution Here Any news on when the iPad version of King of Dragon Pass will finally be released? I thought it was supposed to be early 2012...
  10. @meAzuma Thank God that Avadon wasn't an EA/Activision production or we would be paying $0.99 per one use DLC for each cheat and $2.99 per side quest. I come from XBox 360 land where charging for cheats and sidequests is a given... That is why I am gaming on my iDevices now.
  11. @Kreador So it will be a totally new character's story in the world of Avadon? In other words, once I complete my current run of my Shadow Walker in Avadon I, that is the end of his particular tale?
  12. Please bear with me; a few tongue in cheek thoughts that struck me as I am playing Avadon. What if Electronics Arts (EA), the publisher of Mass Effect, acquired Spiderweb Software? Jeff would probably be promoted to a non-development role. Actual development would be farmed out to a subsidiary like EA Mumbai or EA Chongqing. We would see an explosion in genres utilizing Spiderweb's IPs. Expect: Avernum Underworld, a first person dungeon exploring game. World of Avadon, an MMORPG. Hands of Avadon 6, a squad based brawler where Hands lead their squads against the enemies of the Pact. The Avernums, a wacky social simulation where you control a family trying to survive in the world of Avernum. Hijinks ensue. Avernum 8, where the world of Avernum is presented in 3D, but is made much smaller and buggier. The ending will give the player a choice of three different explosions that differ only in their colours. Then about a year later, Jeff will leave EA to start his own indie startup and the Spiderweb games would be released only in EA game compilations...
  13. Will the sequel continue Avadon's story with my character or will it be about a new player character?
  14. Not a bug. Turn on the "Text Console" under "Game Settings" and you will see what the game is doing. Basically the iPad is resolving all the behind the scenes calculations, as I would imagine.
  15. Maybe fans will take up the mantle and continue to carry the torch. After all we have Blades of Exile/Avernum...
  16. I would suggest not playing multiple games simultaneously. A couple of years back, I first played Geneforge on my PC. It was so good that I ordered the Exile games and Nethergate. As a result of trying to juggle so many games, I completed none of them. Currently I have bought both Avadon and Avernum for my iPad, but I am strictly playing only Avadon now in order to savour the experience. I bought Avernum as a day one purchase, even though I will not be playing it until I get around to it, was just to show the developer my support for his iPad releases.
  17. I face the exact same issue on my iPad 2. Another question I have is why doesn't the view shift when I click on the expanded map? Clicking on the minimap in the corner shifts the view, but clicking on the expanded map does not. Can the game engine allow us to shift the view by clicking on the expanded map?
  18. Game: Avadon for iPad Running on an iPad 2 3G 16GB on iOS 5.1 I had two save games in the left column, as well as three savegames in the right column. They were all the save slots at the top. There was a savegame in the autosave slot as well. However, when I started up Avadon recently, only the first game slot at the top left corner and the autosave were left. The rest of my savegames had vanished. The only difference I can think of might be that I had began to use the "quit" option under the floppy disk icon to end my sessions shortly before that happened. Previously I would just save and multitask out before killing the app manually. Since then, I had been saving to the first three slots on the left column and returned to saving and multitasking out of Avadon before killing the app manually. The automatic deletion of savegames had not recurred thereafter.
