I do believe it changed to a green heart shaped bottle in the second Avernum trilogy.

If you immediately know the candlelight is fire, then the forum was cooked a long time ago.
I never would of thought I'd see someone do this.
Edit: I had an epiphany of what the original quote could actually mean. I've mostly forgot what it was, but I'm pretty sure Schrodinger's cat made it in there somewhere.

I should probably get back into fishing again. And probably get back into cooking properly rather than being lazy with it.
Try a traditional martial art, such as karate or kung fu (if you're a beginner, i'd avoid muay thai & MMA) it get you in shape, builds self confidence, you learn how to defend yourself, and it can be quite fun.
I did Taekwon Do for about 3 or 4 years. I have thought about doing something else, but a few of the places I was looking at were quite expensive.
Congrats on 1,234 posts. (von, two, three, four, ahahahaha!)
Why thank you, I never notice. (Een, twee, drei, vier? )

Throw rocks.
I never would of thought people here would be entertained by something so inspiring.
I should release the Kraken.
That's more like it. It's always a fun job

Done that. In fact I managed to read more than 10 pages and finish a book I bought earlier this year.

Out of curiosity, how have you managed to "wreck" three computers in six months?
The first one just died, I'm not sure how. The second one had it's motherboard burn out after it decided not to accept a slight RAM upgrade. The third had cider spilt on and through it.

Over the last 6 or so months, I've managed to wreck three computers one way or another. After my last computer went, I realised I was pretty much sick of them, mostly because for me they manage to use up a lot of time and I achieve nothing. That and, there's only one reason I need to have access one, but that takes one 15-20 session once every 2 weeks. So I'm thinking of not getting another one.
Now that I have nothing to occupy my free time, I'm struggling to think of things to occupy it. So I was curious to know, what do people do around here to enjoy their free time that doesn't involve a computer or TV (yesterday was my first time in over 12 months where I actually watched tv).

my first sw game was exile 1. a few years later e2, soon later e3, then nethergate roughly a year later. then i joined the forums in either '02 or '03.

Avernum: The First Expedition
Cut off from the surface, facing nephils,
I'm pretty sure there won't be nephils until the Empire starts sending them down.

I found the A:EFTP demo quite depressingly small. I hope the whole thing isn't as small.

I forgot about Lloyd Banks. I don't mind him. IMHO, Eminem with a bigger vocab? Last time I remember, he used a lot of gibberish and nonsense, albeit used to get a comedic effect perhaps?
Lately I've had an urge to drink ciders while listening to my just expanded, but still small collection of a few Scandinavian bands I've been getting into.

Gangster rap (Dayton Family, Young Jeezy, Big Rich) and Pop (Britney Spears, Skye Sweetnam, Ellie Goulding).
Not even trolling: I just enjoy this stuff.
Rap tends to have such clever and amusing wordplay
The only rapper I know of that does this quite well is Rakim. There are a few others I think aren't bad, but aren't that brilliant either.

I've been on a massive Stargate binge again. I would pick something out of that, but can't decide.

Jeff's games are, admitingly can be a bit hard to get used to at first. That being said, the longest battle I ever had was in Exile 3. It took 5-10 minutes. I for some reason decided to pick on a group of troglo's, in which I wasn't ready for. The only reason it took so long was because their mages did summon upon summon.

Before Hawthorne was assassinated, the Empire could and did banish anyone at any time for any reason to Avernum. Get on the bad side of a politician? Banished. Getting too popular? Banished. Don't fit in? Banished. Accidentally interact with someone who might be a rebel? Banished. You're hardly safe when the threat of being tossed into a cave filled with demons and other monsters constantly looms overhead.
The fact that there isn't that many people in Avernum and still lots of people on the surface, I'd say, even though that would e the biggest threat, that it's chances of happening are minimal.
-
Until the vahnatai decided to exact their revenge on them, the Empire was generally quite safe. They did after all kill anything even half threatening. So no monsters there.
-
I do believe after X3 (I could be wrong), that the Empire actually started sending some reasonable food down
-
But battles are one of lifes many wonders and enjoyable things!

If it wasn't for the fact I don't like eating mushrooms, I'd definitely go to Avernum. Quite the fun, adventurous, industrial sorta place I wouldn't mind going.
-
Funny that you mentioned this. I actually had the same line of thought several years agoIn very short, Avernum is Australia.
In short, the Empire dumped all their criminals and undesirables into exile in a distant land that was filled with the deadliest creatures in the known world. So yeah, Australia.
-
I want something more industrial. That shouldn't be too hard, sometimes Shapers seem so lazy

I've been getting stuck back into the Exile series lately. For me it's the Exile/Avernum series.
