I think the party will do well, enemies can't really surround more than one character of the party, and even then killing one of them will be easy, the only point is the lesser damage dealing of archers but that as you mentioned is balanced by their higher survivability.
-
Unless you have entered a really out of your level area, most such fights tend to be easy, you can fight them for experience or you can ignore them if you want to get through the game quicker.
-
Always be ready for your nasty Bosses fight make sure you have good potions not ones that you know that won't help a lot
Looking at a few of your posts, I just wanted to ask, are you by any chance a secret Avernum alchemist.

Dialog script broken or absent" when I try to interact with a friendly or hostile NPC, and it 'opens' a door as if it were a chest.
I've seen this error on my windows game, it happened when my computer closed down without being shut down(the game was running at the time), my guess is that this error occurs if your save files have got corrupted or something.
Try starting a new fresh game in mac, save it and check if you can migrate that file successfully to the ipad, if the error persists then I can't say anything but if it doesn't then the problem probably was with the save files rather than the migration.

What level are you? Are you able to spread the party out, preferably keeping your healer out of range? Do you have trouble hitting Droknarr?
This.
Basically if you are still finding it hard, then either you lack levels or you have done some mistake with the party composition.

They've never had a chance to establish a civilisation in peacetime, so you can't know that. They might be quite nice when people aren't trying to wipe them off the face of the earth.
I agree, mostly their chief character fault is their greed for everything(wealth, power), but when one really looks at it humans are pretty much the same.

You can keep both till the end of third island if you play your cards right though you might have to forego some experience,, after that at least one will abandon you on the basis of your views, being a shaper doesn't affect them, only the faction you choose.
-
and even if you survive you'll get dread curse and getting rid of it costs 500 coins.
That's for stealing the dragon-gloves or something, not for the other chest I think.

there's patch of it east from Bargha and it (like others) rejuvenates after certain time at ingame has passed.
Why will you answer a two year old question and that too with the answer not actually related to the game for which it was asked?

Increasing a Shaping skill increases the damage output of up to 8 creations at once. How is that not a good investment?
up to 7 actually, you are right about the damage output, however more intelligence allows you to make more/better creatures who will automatically have a better damage output, in essence the investment in other skills more than makes up for this damage reduction.

Whenever faced with choices just do what you think is the most ethical option, that seems the best way to me without going into the Shaper/Rebel ebate, although I do agree with Death knight about what faction is better.

Yes, that's true in general(at least for G4 and G5), even for the shaping devoted characters putting the extra skill points in intelligence is better than putting them in shaping skills, In general I will suggest that the best strategy probably is to major in one shaping art and only get the bare requirements for others, that gives you a decent early game boost.

I any case seems like the answer to the original question is no, I guess you have to go shopping for another boat .
-
Buff like hell, and come after leveling up the party.
Another possible way is to do the stealing in combat mode and keep your priest outside and far from the area where the shades appear, then just make him run and heal periodically.

They are just great, I think the demonslayer is going to be my desktop background for some time.
-
Yeah, wingbolts got nerfed a whole lot compared to G4. They do still have excellent energy resistance, though, and in terms of offensive power they're nearly as good as Gazers. Plus, you get access to them a little earlier.
Their physical attack is also good against magic resistant foes compared to gazers.

I haven't made it to the Tower of Magi, yet. Your right the ogres clean my clock and I haven't found a way around them, is there one?
Go full east and then south from Mertis.

Also, if you decide to move on to Geneforge 2, you will like it a lot better than Geneforge 1
Except for the main menu, WTH was Jeff thinking when he made it?
-
Would the prequel be, tentatively, A0 (as opposed to A7) ?
It's not really decided that it will be made for sure, mostly it's just speculation.

Hello Tim and welcome to SW forums, please leave your sanity at the door, it's overrated .
Spray acid is not a great spell against general enemies actually, it's fine against the undeads since the only aoe's you get at the start of the game are ice damage type and undeads are immune to ice although firebolt is cheaper and can carry the day in most cases.

This was, in essence, what I was hoping to do with a sandbox setting. Since there doesn't seem to be much interest in that...
Well that's disappointing.
Edit: And yeah I will like to participate as well.
-
There are enough invulnerability things in the game itself to carry the day, you only absolutely need them for the Gladwell and Melanchion fights.
-
Getting the max. level for a Gazer doesn't fall in either category.

That makes me curious for the unofficial word.
