  1. Welcome! Using someone else's map could technically be copyright infringement, although I suppose there are ways to do it that would make it more of a tribute than a theft which would therefore be covered by fair use rules. Not sure of the details of that, myself, but maybe someone else knows. But it's great that you're interested! I'd be more helpful if I had not just woken up while in the process of quitting caffeine, but hopefully later I'll have something more useful to say. I will say that most of the day, Celtic Minstrel (lead developer on the Open Blades of Exile project) and I tend to be in the IRC chat room, which you can find in the forum header. He'll be asleep until probably around 10 or 11 AM Eastern Time, most likely. I'm sure he'd love to hear from you.
  2. Supposedly my cuddly plush tortoise, Inspector Peanut, eats any sanity which is left at the door. According to legend.
  3. Not really concerned about damage since the damage isn't really the point of the instruments, but CM says you're right, that stat is only tied to hit chance... This will require pondering. Thank you.
  4. Oh, sorry, wasn't clear. Melee weapons still use STR/DEX but can use any stat in place of the usual edge/bash/pole. The new Blades Base has a handful of those of my design actually, even beside the musical instruments.
  5. You can now link weapons to intelligence or any stat, except for CURRENT HP or SP. I keep pestering CM to add that but so far I have been unsuccessful in convincing him. They are available as item ABILITIES, but that precludes the wicked sick bard instruments from functioning as I hope they will someday. Cleave is where you hit one enemy with a melee weapon and it hits adjacent ones too, right? That'd be cool to add as an ability in BoE. I expect there is a list of item abilities and their function in the documentation, wherever that is. I think it's on CalRef although CM may have copied it to OpenBoE.com, I'm not sure.
  6. Milu released her BoE content under CC-BY-SA! Just waiting on ShyGuy and Spidweb now. I would be shocked if Spidweb actually has an issue with us using Exile Trilogy graphics particularly since we have Andrew Hunter's blessing. I think CM and I are planning to just assume it's OK with them. But I sent a forum PM and an email to ShyGuy some time ago with no response. I'm going to suggest to CM that we stop waiting for ShyGuy, since the handful of his graphics that we want are nice but not really essential, just a handful of flavor terrains. The biggest thing I'd miss is the Fungoid Queen because I love mushrooms, but I kinda just want to move ahead, unless anyone has any better ideas.
  7. Antimagic field? Rakshasa didn't have Absorbs Spells in E3?
  8. I don't think we need higher exposure now, is what I meant. We got all of the first list, Caligula may have much of the long-lost ones, and that was the big point of the thread. I think it's safe to move it now.
  9. BoE forum is way down the list and I wanted as many as possible to see it in an attempt to gather as many of the missing scenarios as possible. The goal has been more or less met and I think it can be moved to the BoE forum.
  10. They once had a deal where if you bought one of their other games, you could get your choice of BoE or Nethergate for $15. I got Nethergate because I already bought BoE.
  11. Thanks, Lilith. The file actually was labeled with a W for some reason. I thought it might have been deliberate.
  12. Thanks, Caligula! Welcome back. Legacy BoE files will hopefully run flawlessly on OBoE. Maintaining the back catalog is one of our priorities. OBoE actually prefers PNG but reads BMP, GIF, and MEG as well now, independent of OS, so don't worry about the graphics. Actually we're going to be converting and/or removing any MEG files soon anyway. We'll check them to see if they're in working order too.
  13. Anything that says personal.psu.edu/whatever/bxbnumberhere/whateverIcan'trememberthewholething is Brett Bixler. He is a college professor and in addition to his professional work, the school gives him some personal webspace with which he can do as he pleases. Over the years, in addition to his own scenarios, he's hosted a number of utilities for the community, such as Alexandria the BoE scenario repository, and BoA custom graphics database The Louvre. So it wasn't a correction or clarification, it was an assumption that you knew.
  14. I am missing Aaron Maybury's "Dragon's Lair", not to be confused with Ryan Phelps's scenario of the same name. Does anyone have it? EDIT: CM found it on Brett Bixler's site. Thanks, CM!
  15. Do any of you know who made the scenario "Derwish Challenge"? It's not on TrueSite that I can see, and there's no readme. I'm trying to label the file. I don't even know where I found it...
  16. What is "The Unfortunate Demise of Lord Pippensworth"? Celtic Minstrel has that too, and I guess Alcritas made it. I thought it was part of "The Arc" until CM told me the full title. Might that be an older version of something with a different title?
  17. I guess I was missing Brett Bixler's "The Hut of Baba Yaga" somehow. Celtic Minstrel told me he had it, otherwise I wouldn't have thought to look for it. Thanks, CM!
  18. A lurker sent me Isle of Serin, The Za-Khazi Edit, and Dragon Quest! Thanks! I'll go back and scratch out the ones I've obtained.
  19. Thanks! I don't know if we need Java but Celtic Minstrel is in the chat room at http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=%23openboe if you'd like to discuss anything. I'm there too but I'll be popping in and out. I'll be there for most of the evening though, most likely.
  20. Glad to hear it! If you'd like to thank Spiderweb Software, however, you may wish to email support@spiderwebsoftware.com because they very rarely read the forums unless a game has just been released. They like fan mail though.
  21. Perhaps also worth noting: Many ReadMes, even in ZIPs that unpack successfully, seem to be corrupt. I don't know what that says about the scenarios in the same ZIPs. I plan to organize the files, pulling out things like MEGs and other no-longer-useful files and putting them in a separate just-in-case archive, to keep things simpler, and when I do that I'll note which have broken ReadMes. At some point every scenario will have to be checked manually, just in case, but right now I'm not sure I have the energy to do so myself. Any help will be appreciated, of course. Not urgent though.
  22. Thanks, CM! I thought I had trolled through all the designers' websites, especially The Lyceum, but somehow I guess I missed them.
