  1. Exile was probably one of the first RPGs I ever played. It will always be near and dear to me, I still have disks of nearly all games released on CD. I own the Geneforge Saga, the Second Avernum Trilogy, and both Avadon 1&2 on Steam. When A2:CS is released, I plan on buying it day one. So I would be considered a fanboy of Spiderweb, and Jeff in general. That said, every game is different. Exile was fiendishly difficult, I consider Exile 2 to be harder in the beginning chapters, (losing all your food in the waterfalls ) I've poured more hours into Exile 3 than any other game I have played. Then I discovered Avernum and fell in love all over again. It took some getting used to, since the isometric environment was unusual to me and most of the mechanics were different. Still, it's a good story and I was able to fall right into place. Same with A2 and A3. So my opinion is that all the games have reasons to be cherished. I look forward to A2:CS and eventually A3:RW. I would assume that somewhere in there will be Avadon 3 as well. I don't consider the remakes to be doing the same thing all over again, since you must approach each game with a new mindset and different strategies. Side Note: I welcomed Garzahd's larger role in A:EftP. I think it leads to a better setup of the war. We don't know what Jeff has in store for us with A2:CS and it could be possible that Madhavi will play a larger role this time around in the 3rd game.
  2. Mind duel was always one that I liked in theory but didn't really use much except when necessary. Also, the Capture Soul and Simulacrum spells were handy. Of course, this is Exile 2-3. As for Exile 1, there were some odd spells: Location, the different levels of curses, mages had a tiny bless and curse spell. Magic Map was nifty if you felt you were missing something and had a sapphire. Overall, from playing A:EftP, I prefer the new spells.
  3. I never expected when I started this that I would get so much help, I really appreciate it and am kinda embarrassed because now that it's been explained pretty much step by step, I feel it is something I should have thought of.
  4. Xuerebx- If you pasted everything into that directory and made sure to override any files when it asked you to, I imagine you are good. Loading the game, you should notice the differences between the remix and vanilla.
  5. Hmm, I tried uploading some photos to Facebook. I got the URLs and used insert image but they don't load. I think maybe I need to link my forum account to Facebook somehow. Forums make me feel computer illiterate.
  6. I do miss that Int bonus. If I was playing on Torment, I would definitely look into the analysis and do my best to min-max my way to every advantage. However, I'm just playing on hard to experience the story in its fullest for the first time. Here is what I went with: Greham: Divinely Touched, Elite Warrior Hirmrr: Divinely Touched, Deadeye Alexis: Divinely Touched, Natural Mage Sssrha: Divinely Touched, Pure Spirit I've finished the first few missions. I'll add my impressions a little later today. P.S. If the screenshots don't work, I'll edit and correct them later. Edit: Screenshots corrected.
  7. I'm gonna have to give the Flaming Sword + Spectral Falchion a workout. I just stayed attached to the Venomous Blade because it is the Alien Blade from Exile and pretty much owned everything. Nostalgia and all.
  8. 1. What is your age? 28 2. What part of the world do you live in? In which part of the world were you born? What countries have you lived in? Southern US. I was born in Tennessee. I haven't left the US yet. I would love to visit Japan. 3. What is your native language? In what languages are you proficient? English. I did the obligatory 2 years of Spanish in high school and have forgotten most of it. I know a little Japanese from watching the Shogun miniseries. 4. Describe your ancestry. Eh...My grandpa did a trace and I believe, if memory serves, I have roots in Sweden back in the 1700s. 5. Describe your gender identity and sexual orientation. I'm a male heterosexual that supports any type of orientation or identity. 6. Do you have any religious or spiritual beliefs? If so, describe them. In what religious tradition(s) were you raised, if any? I grew up going to church, Southern Baptist so no drinking, dancing, lots of gossip, etc. Now, I don't subscribe to any of that. I believe that there is something overpowering in the universe and we don't use enough of our intellect to be able to understand it. 7. What is your relationship status? Do you have any children? I am happily married to my second wife. We have been married for over 3 years now and do not have children. Choosing to put them off until careers are established. 8. Describe your social class. Have you always been in this class? I'm just a poor guy living paycheck to paycheck. Always have and hopefully it changes one day. It has gotten better lately, where I don't feel I am struggling so much. 9. Have you ever served in the military? If so, what division? I served for 7 years in the Army National Guard. 10. What is your occupation (or former occupation)? What is your highest level of education (and your degree, if applicable)? I work for Second Life as tech support. I'm 6 hours away from a degree in Financial Planning but started going to college in 2004 and stopped somewhere around 2012.
  9. I pretty much exclusively use steam, though I own some games via GOG and unfortunately origin. I understand that sometimes I have to do some troubleshooting to make them work, but it's things I would have to do if I had a cd anyway, without the worry of physical damage. I am also aware of the fact that one day steam will shut down and I will be SOL. I can only hope there is/will be a contingency plan in the works.
  10. I'll follow the facebook idea. Thanks!
  11. I was trying to upload some screenshots I have taken but for the life of me I can't figure out how to do it. It makes me feel very computer illiterate and self-conscious. So what are the steps? I see the My Media button but that is empty, the insert image button only wants URLs, and the manage attachment section of the profile seemed promising but I didn't see an upload option. P.S. Sorry if this is in the wrong place, feel free to move it if so.
  12. I've never beaten A4, really never got to deep into it. I think at the time I gave it my best effort, I was into the Geneforge series and that ended up hooking my attention. So I'm gonna give A4 a go, semi-blind. I don't know the plot well and don't like to min-max so I'll be going with a party that sounds like it would be fun for me. Human Paladin (melee-light priest) Nephil Archer Nephil Mage-Thief Slith Priest (pole weapons, so kind of a shaman variant) I'll try to post updates as I go along and describe my experiences. Having played the Exile series and then Avernum, I knew what to expect there, so the fact that I'm kinda in the dark here could be entertaining (or not, but we will see how it goes)
  13. You're braver than I am. I tried this with Nethergate: Resurrection. Loaded a save from several months back. I just kinda wandered around aimlessly for a solid hour before giving up and starting fresh.
  14. One thing I really enjoyed about Exile 2 was the duel with Limoncelli. I'm interested to see how this is done with A2CS. Dreading that Torment run when he gets 3-4 attacks per round. For A3RW, I don't really have one thing I'm ready for, I'm just ready for the whole game! I have more memories of that game than most of the other spiderweb series combined.
  15. I've just beat another run through, this time on Normal because I haven't played in a long time. There are a lot of what I would consider end-game swords, like the Demonslayer, Spectral Falchion, Venomous Blade, and Flaming Sword. What are some of the combinations used? I typically used Demonslayer and the Spectral Falchion for demonkind, and switched to the Venom Bade and Flaming Sword for everything else. I can't tell if the blademaster bonus from the Falchion is stronger than the other swords. There are other swords as well, that cause slow, etc. So really I'm just starting a discussion on what everything thinks are the best combination of blades for a dual wielder.
  16. If you haven't already, I'd go back and fight Sulfras. She fills that role of a boss that is stronger than the endgame bosses. IMO of course.
  17. Very true. I'd completely forgotten about the spell requirements from earlier editions! I've been stuck in 4th ed too long.
  18. Yeah, an all physical or all magical party would have trouble with any of the ironward or runeward golems. There were a couple of boss type Eyebeats highly resistant one type of damage as well.
  19. Touche. I'm relatively sure that never happened and I'm glad it did.
  20. That's pretty much what I did on my first run through Normal. Sword/Board Fighter-I pumped Strength to 30 and then Endurance the rest. Dual Fighter-Strength, 10 or so dex, and Endurance Mage-All Int, followed by End. Priest-All Int, followed by Strength. And I cursed everytime my dual fighter was charmed and killed the mage.
  21. I always assumed it was due to movement. Mage spells involve intricate movement and hand gestures that are cumbersome in heavy armor. Priest spells are mainly prayers and powers channeled through a holy symbol that don't need a lot of movement to accomplish.
  22. I normally keep as few to hit penalties as possible except on chest armor until I start hitting 95% on most creatures. Then I start to layer on the other pieces, especially since by then I've found better pieces.
  23. That's true. It definitely helped me come to better terms with the sliths though. By the time I went to actually complete the Slith quests, I didn't have too much trouble. The chieftain with the slimes and getting too aggressive in the Slith fortification north of Fort Emerald were the only major issues.
  24. I started out attempting an archer but ended up giving up about lvl 10 or so and started ti train her in dual wield. She quickly became the MVP of the party, especially against bosses. I gave her the oozing sword and flaming sword so she could do heavy damage to *almost* anyone she came across.
  25. I have no major complaints about this remake, other than what feels like massive amounts of HP for most bosses. I prefer playing this to Avernum. Nothing quite feels like the Exile series though. I keep a 32-bit virtual machine on my pc just so I can fire up Exile 2 occasionally.
