  1. For windows it is located in the same folder with savefiles For Seven, it is C:\Users\<Username>\Documents\Spiderweb Software\Avernum Saved Games\AvernumSettings.dat For XP, it is supposed to be C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\My Documents\Spiderweb Software\Avernum Saved Games\AvernumSettings.dat For Steam version, I have no clear idea, since settings for different Steam Apps are scatterd everywhere. If you can't find it through the above locations, try search C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\<game name>\SAVE\ and C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\<Username>\<game name>\. My many Steam games savefiles are stored there.
  2. I really hoped that Click to reveal.. Thantria would teach the ritual as a reward of her another hard quest. Although she doesn't know where Final Gauntlet is, she does have sufficient reasons to have known the ritual. An alternative way to bypass the pain.

  4. The floating chatters above npcs' heads can be found in certain lines from script files. What if editing out these lines to make the npcs dumb until you click on them? I think I will take a little experiment to see if it works.
  5. Why so rush? Be patient please. Rather than play a game full of bugs that may crash down repeatedly and make your monitor blur or what's even worse damage your savegames halfway driving you crazy, I'd wait. Better late than buggy! Only GIFTS appreciate things full of juicy, fresh and yummy bugs
  6. Here's the zip pack of the editors once existed on the forums and now are missing or hard to find. Just saw someone asking for them and said links were dead or blocked in some regions. So since I installed and tested them and someone may need it, I uploaded them to Microsoft SkyDrive. This link would be intact for a long time. The zip pack contains 4 'full' script editors for G1, G2, G3 and G4 separately, a 'minor' scripting for G5 just to add a powerful weapon item (from microphage's post), and the original files to remove the editors in case you damage your game. To download the zip file, Click Here
  7. This topic has been revived twice. But since the links are long gone and such trainers are so desperately needed...
  8. The curse scorched Erika to a pile of ashes which were blown up with Rentar's fortress. There is no way to revive someone whose remains were buried in a faraway unaccessible place. Besides, the return life spells seem to be game mechanics rather than something real exist in the game universe.
  9. You need to purchase a genuine copy of Mac OS to install in a virtual machine, assumed you had Vmware WS installed in your PC(you need to buy that too. They also offer a 30-day trial version you can download and use for free for a month if you can finish the game within the time limit). Overall not worth the money and time and effort to be thrown down just 4 months earlier.

A smaller one would certainly enable anyone to tell whether or not he likes the game or not, and if you like it you are not going to keep playing the demo but instead order the full game. At least that's the way I look at it. Have you tried all the 4 download links? The first three links won't let you resume after pause except the 4th one. Alternatively the ftp link from the support page also allows the pause/resume feature. Also, under some certain circumstances your internet connections might be reset when your download speed reaches the max-limit. So you might try to limit your download speed and disable multi-connection with some download manager softwares metioned above. And if none of them work for you, you can try the orbitdownloader. I downloaded the Avadon demo with it, and the pause/resume feature works well on the 4th link.
  12. I think it is the 'translucent effect' that makes A6 run slowly on old machine. In A6, the portrait panel, dialog boxes and the minimap all have semitransparent backgrounds that consume much of system resources. Like the newest Windows 7 and Vista. I have an old laptop running G5 and the Demo of A6. It seems the two latest games use the same game engine. In G5, the backgrounds of the panels are black and opaque. And it runs perfectly. But A6 which has the translucent effect, runs really slowly on it, especially when a dialog box pops up. I've tried the "draw minimum" and fast mode, even have turned off the sound, and it runs just a bit faster, no significant improvement. Later, when I tried to move the portraits panel by clicking on the 'move button' the panel shrinks into a narrow bar, and all of a sudden, the cursor moves as fast as in G5! So I think if a 'disable translucent effect' option is provided, the game speed will gain a boost.
  13. I found the following solution on microsoft support page. Anyway you can give it a try. ============================================================ 1. Click Start, click Run, type control admintools, and then click OK. 2. Double-click Local Security Policy. 3. Click Software Restriction Policies. Note If no software restrictions are listed, right-click Software Restriction Policies, and then click Create New Policy. 4. Under Object Type, double-click Enforcement. 5. Click All users except local administrators, and then click OK. 6. Restart the computer. Important: After you follow the previous steps, local administrators can install the .msi package or the .msp package. After the package is installed, reset the enforcement level by following the previous steps. In step 5, click All users instead of All users except local administrators. ============================================================
  14. Since A4 and A5 has been released for a long time, and upgrading them to the new engine requires lots of work (not to mention the remaking of the sound and graphics), I think it won't happen.
  15. Hi, I once had the same problem with G5 last year. I don't know the cause of the problem but I'm sure some OpenGL component of your video card driver is corrupted or outdated. First, update your video driver or reinstall it. If this step doesn't help, you can wait for the DX version, the graphics will be just fine if other 3D games runs normally on your pc.
  16. As far as I know, MS Virtual PC & 'XP Mode' actually is a VM for Windows 7. The supported resolutions it offers has been extended up to 2048x1920 from 1600x1200. You can switch the resolution easily. The good news is that besides G4&G5 you can even have the Exile Trilogy running in Windows 7. You can get it here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/ Make sure your netbook meets its system requirements.
  17. try to run a virtual machine software then install & play G4&G5 in the VM
  18. My sister bought me Avernum V as a present from Amazon/Reflexive not long ago, and then I got addicted to the whole series, and then I made her buy me G1 and G5.
