Okay, whereabouts are these switches located again? I just defeated the Widow Matriarch right after getting the Report to Avadon quest, and I'm not seeing any switches on the walls of that area at all. Do I have to come back later, and if so when?

  2. I actually found that to only be the case on my first playthrough. My second, where I knew a lot better what was going on and what I should do, was a lot easier even on those last two quests, leaving me confident enough to be able to take on two of the three optional bosses, as well, and considering a traitor runthrough now. That said, I do think that the penultimate (or ultimate for a loyalist run) stage of the game, fighting one's way through to Fort Foresight, could easily be omitted or shortened without anything of value being lost.

  3. I got Dedrik's quest but didn't want to do it. Sometime later, Dedrik started complaining in Avadon (I never take him out) so I presumed quest failed by itself. I even told Callan Dedrik didn't do the bad thing. But now I'm being sent back to hunt down rebel leader and Dedrik always appears. I can't get rid of this dude now. I tried talking to Callan, Kva spokesman, tribal shaman and Dedrik to no avail. There's no way to get rid of the quest by talking and I'm not gonna kill those Kvas, yet I don't want Dedrik cluttering my group.

How do I get rid of Dedrik's quest without finishing it? Is there a console command that'll erase/reset this quest or change my group members?

    Also hello.

Have you tried going back to the Blackwoods and expicitly telling jerkass shaman whatsisname that you won't do it?

  4. Getting back to the original topic -- while I agree that killing the Raptors after you do their mission should probably have consequences for your relationship with Yoshiria, I take issue with how it's presented -- she acts as though you didn't agree to their request, rather than agreeing to it and then going berserk on them. It's a minor flaw, but it is a flaw.

  5.

As a further data point on this, you should check out what happens in the ending if you never bring Yoshiria back at all.

They eventually send her back in pieces. Not really how one expects them to treat one of their own.

    Or possibly

how they treat one of their own who failed in her mission.

  6. Negative on game completion, that was an old save from before I went to the Corruption Core. I'll try it again and see what she says when I talk to her about the Raptors.

    <interval>

Okay, I did that, and sure enough, she's all "I think what you did was a grave error", which suggests that she's not going to go along with my schemes in the future. Apparently, that flag triggers when you attack the Gray Raptors whether she's there or not. (Which adds to my "she's actually working for the Raptors" theory.)

  7. Did you take Yoshiria with you on your return trip to annihilate the Raptors? Because I just did a run through their headquarters without her and without getting any messages of that sort. (I suspect that Yoshiria is actually a double agent for the Raptors, and that her abduction was actually part of a long con.)

  8. The Core Miranda fight is such a stupid, stupid fight. There are way too many things going on at once.

(Also, Superba, once you complete the fight, you don't need to worry about stairs or trapdoors. Just head straight south. The terrain changes so there is a narrow path of smooth ground all the way to the exit. The stone sentinel dialog box should describe it happening.)

    Dikiyoba.

    ,,, wow, I can't believe I missed that ...

  9. I followed your instructions and all went very well, Miranda died, then I forgot to save the game and the party was killed by lava monsters before they could reach the trapdoor.

So I had to retry the fight but I quit after one hour and a half spent killing one eye monsters without any sign of blue particles. Really frustrating.

I can't say what I'm doing wrong now that I did well in previous fight.

    Any suggestion please?

With regards to the lava monsters -- don't fight them. RUN. For this one fight, you are NOT stopped from moving away more than one square from these specific monsters. Don't waste time or energy fighting them, just RUN.

  10. Since killing him was optional in the first game, why keep him for the second if he never plays a part in the story? I don't really think his storyline merits continuance in the third game. I'd much prefered that this guy had stayed dead.

His involvement in this one is also optional. If you don't take the quest to find him, he'll never show up. Just ask Jaime about Yoshiria, and otherwise leave him alone.

  11. I don't know for sure, but Melantha (sp?) and Basilia both give quests, and Melantha gives several of them, so it might be safer to complete those first JUST in case.

I do know for sure. You can still get quests from them after kiling Xenophon. They're just a little bit ruder in dealing with you than they might otherwise have been.

  12. You didn't kill the entire Grey Raptors organization, just one base and not even their home base (probably in Kellamved). Further, Jaime claims to not know anything about that operation. Just as with Avadon, Grey Raptors are only told what they need to know, and anyway, he's a diplomat. They won't use him to deliver threats.

  13. Actually, it may be possible that you can

    1. agree to their mission

    2. complete their mission -- which gives different results depending on how much their creature destroys

    3. then come back later and slaughter them

And still get Yoshiria's loyalty. Of course, this will get the rest of their organization mad at you with possible consequences later.

  14. The only companions in Avadon 2 who require you to murder anyone are Khalida (who has some justification for the situation) and Dedrick (who is actively horrified by what his quest leads to). Perhaps you should play something else, with less moral complexity. Tiddlywinks, perhaps.

And yes there is an option for choosing companions who aren't "murderous" or "evil". You can always choose to go it alone, you noble person, you.

  15. OH.

But I didn't even have the chance for a real long fight. I mean I killed maybe two infernals, then he fled. I really, really don't understand.

He's a continuing character, and remember that the Grey Raptors only asked you to find out where he might be, not to kill him. They want to do THAT themselves.
