  1. The thing is, while what I'm describing is annoying, I have no doubt that my party getting killed because they don't have Ward of Steel or Ward of Elements up is even more annoying. It's not a game ender but it is very ridiculous (IMHO) that they can only be fixed in one specific way. There are scrolls that let you cast Domination, so why aren't there items that let you cast Unshackle Thoughts?

I realize that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, but cure fits my strategy and playing style much better. It's my one real objection to the game that isn't stylistic.

  2. I think these are one of the biggest problems in the game. The only way they can be fixed is with Unshackle Mind, so if your priest character gets it, you're out of luck. In contrast, physical effects can be cured in a variety of ways.

Further, unless under Battle Frenzy, a priest can only cure one character's mental effects every round, which is inconvenient when there are two or more charmed, stunned or terrified characters active. The worst part is that Divine Restoration doesn't do a thing to fix them.

In the event that Mr. Vogel actually reads this stuff, I would urge him to add something like the Shard of Release to later remakes of these games, that cures all nearby characters of their mental effects.

  3. 1) Assuming that you can keep Adrian (or whatever the young adventurer you can pick up was named) alive until the final battle, what happens to him in the climax? Or does he leave before then? I didn't manage to keep him alive that long, and I'm sort of curious ...

    2) This is the possible bug -- while I was able to find the snake in Tampeas on one occasion, on a second run-through -- necessitated by a recovery to an earlier save -- it wasn't in any of the bushes, and I'm sure that I checked them all!

Okay, I'm pretty sure I looked just about everywhere without finding the student of the school of magery that I was supposed to find.

Is he (or information about his fate) in the area of the Specrtral Warrens that's past a huge drop, which otherwise only seems to be accessible by a portal? If so, how do I get in there?

    Oh. My. God.

    Are you telling me

that I have to kill Khoth -- a dragon -- a level 50 monster -- if I want to go back through?

To heck with that! Next time I go through this thing I'm cheating the day back every chance I get, and seeing everything.

  6. 1. I am currently preparing to invade the Broken Fang Clan's fortress. It's Day 9. After I get through these guys, am I going to have enough time to make it through to the end before the time limit, assuming no serious delays?

    2. After completing the primary quest (deliver the wands) is it possible to go back through the run to see all the sights that I missed the first time through?

    3. Is it possible to find another source for the item that Morog offers which will protect the party from the effects of the poppies?

So how do I get past the gates --

    <sudden insight, runs the game>

D'oh! I completely overlooked the answer to my problem.

I could see the wheels that opened the gates, but it didn't occur to me to "look" at them to operate them, since I'm used to operating stuff like that by walking up to them.

Now I'm really embarrassed ... thanks for the help, though.

Okay, so I get sent to the Pit of Slime for a meeting with Stalker, apparently, but when I get into the underground building I'm confronted with a locked door that apparently requires a special key. I can't get into any of the other areas of this dungeon without going through this door, and I can't get out of the dungeon. (Fortunately, my save file is at a point before I entered the place.) But I haven't been able to find the key for the door anywhere in there. Where was I supposed to have gotten it?

  9. From what I've heard, if you rob the Anama's treasure, every town on the Isle of Bigail becomes hostile to you. Does anyone know if this include the GIFTs home? Because I'd almost consider the problems of getting out of the Temple after doing so, not to mention Shayder itself, as worthwhile if I could stomp on those disturbing creatures with a clean conscience.

Thanks, I'll spend a few days looting Troglodyte Castle and then check back. I really hope that I don't have to use the editor -- I've turned it off, and resetting it the last time wiped out my registration. I really don't want to have to contact the company twice within the space of a month ...
