Maybe you're talking about the "big secret" where you can get the Lightning Girdle artifact. To open it, consult Syn's Item list. It's somewhere around there.

The second question is limiting. There should be a "who's got the more treasure" philosophy but, personally, I like the Shapers, until I see the Rebels with better loot. Hey, I like the Neutral Evil alignment and I'm not some ambassador of goodwill.

There's the cheesy way of using PS when you still don't have that much SP to spam it up. Save, cast, load, rinse and repeat.
