  1. If I make a party of all fighters or all spellcasters, will that be ok or are there monsters that are immune to either. Like for example if I make 4 mage/priest will I run into a fight where the monster is immune to my spells and I can only hit him with melee weapon. On this subject, which is better, all melee or all magic?
  2. ok, well I haven't tried to keep a creation the entire game simply because they always die too easy about the time an upgrade was due, so I figured it was designed tht way. But still, I don't see how ya can play thru without healing them.
  3. you edited your challenge and confused me, lol, when you first posted it yesterday, it said that you would never let a creation die that had earned XP, so I read the part that your fyora had died and I was like ha? then I reread your challenge again and you changed it to if they die, oh well... that is a major difference.. guess you got tired of reloading (I would too).. when I first read that I was thinking that would never work, keeping a fyora the entire game.. towards the later chapters it would be dead almost every battle if it got near anything... so I figured you would change that, would be almost impossible to keep the starting creations later on, although I am still confused that you will never absorb them, you will need to upgrade those fyoras to drayks and then to drakons. How will you do that, purposely kill them in battle? I am also curious how far you will make it with never casting a healing spell. Why did you choose this route? That category of spells falls under the shaping skills so it's not considered a battle feature. I couldn't imageine fighting the Sandros Mines guys with no healing. And since you aren't using battle magic, I don't think your creations will kill off Shaftoe's servent minds in 1 round before it makes creations (let us know idf they do, cause I would like to know), that will be very tough with no healing.
  4. From what I gather, you need mechanics for (1)there are mines that require certain skill to disarm (2)the higher the skill, the fewer living tools (LT) that are used to open chest/door. From several posts that I have read, the going rate for Mechanics skill is about 10 (all skill with no gear, 15 with gear), but won't that still leave you ending the game with several LT? Could I get by with just enough mechanics skill to disarm the mines (use the 3 servile techs for the high mines in the fens of course), and then just end up with none or almost no LT, or will I still need 10 to do everything and a lower mechanics just won't be enough and I'll run out LT before I finish. What I am thinking, I would raise to just enough needed to disarm the mines in Ch1 (all skill with no gear) and then leave at that for the game and just use the 5+ gear to open all the chests/doors, so it would take a LT more than it would at 10... would I be shorting myself too much and end running out of LT or should that be good to get by with? Basically, has anybody tried with a low mechanics skill to see how far they got? And yes, I would like to disarm every mine and open everything cause I want the XP (and even though that is probably powergaming to some, there will be no backstabbing Thell this game, lol... although I will help then kill the 2 shapers in the bunkers, that sword and cloak are too awesome to resist) I hope this makes sense, lol... typing this right before I goto bed, so I can check it tomorrow night. Thanks ahead for all the help.
  5. well that makes much more sense, thanks for the clarification
  6. ok, thanks for the info for further help though, if I have 20 melee, that gives me 100% chance to hit, would 21 melee give me 105%? Is there any point to go past 100%. Yet the description for STR says that it increases your chance to hit with melee weapons also(but not an actual %), does that mean that your chance to hit is the combined effort of the melee skill and STR, so if going past 100% is worthless (which I don't know about that), does that mean it's pointless to raise melee to near 20 if you also raise STR? Hope I was clear on asking this, wasn't sure how else to word it, lol
  7. I asked about this in my original post but it got overlooked in the creation comparison discussion, lol... Thuryl stated this about having multiple points spent in shaping skills: Quote: Every point counts, but there are diminishing returns at high levels: above 10, you only get an extra level for every second rank in a shaping skill, and above 20 you only get an extra level for every third rank. I was wandering if this applied to other non shaping skills. Like melee/missile have a 5% to hit chance per each point,, does that stay the same so that at 20 points, you will have 100%. And with str/dex, do those effects diminish after 10 points as well.

  9. yeah that's kind of what I was doing, just save then try different kinds of wands, see what works, then reload and use that one. I was just wandering if somebody had already done this, would save a heap of time knowing ahead that this wand works best on this mob or this mob is immune to this wand.
  10. I'm a little confused on the different types of wands there are what they can damage. Is there a list somewhere to show this, like what all the wands are and what types of monsters are immune to them? Or what is the best monster to fight with them.. for example, I used a disruption wand on a shade/ghost and it took no damage yet on a servile with like 30 HPs it did 120 points of damage... kind of wasted charges in both cases there.
  11. In an effort to experiment (to see if I liked it), I made a servile focusing on missile skills. So I used the money cheat so I could buy unlimited javelins and I liked playing that way.. went thru almost all the demo using batons and javelins... so I think I would like to play this, I'll start a new game and never use any cheat, just have the stuff I find, and whatever money I would spend on spells use on ammo.. is there enough ammo to go around focusing on nothing but that or will I be disappointed about 1/2 way through when this ammo starts to run out?

  13. to me, that's different.. entering in that cheat is well cheating, but killing the guy is a game mechanic and it's designed to work that way, I just didn't realize that the town liked him that much... so for my next game, I def won't kill him
  14. I loled when I seen that actually, I did learn from it... I checked to make sure that the code worked (and it did), then I started a new game so that Thell would be alive again. I mainly jsut wanted to see how to do this because what I was trying didn't work.
