As Goethe once said: Science and art belong to the whole world, and before them vanish the barriers of nationality.

    Diablo...

Knowing, that Dialbo III is about to come out, i have taken to revisit the original Diablo game, and found it surprisingly good... Ogen, and his wine drinking fantasies, Griswold and his hell forge anvil... and found out that the many quest were very like those of Angband... I have two questions : 1-How is Angband remotely related to Avernum or Exile? 2-Do you think that the creators of Diablo one inspired themselves from folk tales for their level designs? ( ...the wells being clogged by demons as a frog in the story of the luck child and so on... ) and if so, from where did they pull their inspiration?

    Animated Avatars

Re: Animated Avatars Like the hieroglyphs carvers in Ciaro, let us build temples of complicated art language! Death to word users!
  4. Well then, i shall obey, like any good dog... Diogenes at your service...

  6. Well, it's very nice to have a reply... but here comes a but... not that disagree or approve of your views about Shapers, i will intend to make my my self a little more clear on the yes no subject, i was making a reference to Star Wars, in the way it seems that even though the characters are well brushed, i think they are outdated; you could take either a more naturalist point of view like those of Zola, or something more surrealist, my point being that the moral dilemmas, machavelichal plans, and a rebelling attitude towards father like figures are a little overused, what i really mean is that you could, since we have all contemplated your potential genius, could push the bar further upwards into more original ideas, Brushing characters for a porpoise, not in the sense of their plot role, but as a criticism? Don't forget "Words are bridges over undiscovered countries...".
  7. The narrative is a little to "no! yes! noo! yess!" for me... I always considered the Shapers, unjust in the way they treat people, always trying to kill non-Shapers off or use them as some sort of a dependent good-consumer, self-centred, secretive and yet, a very direct people that take themselves for those who "posses" the truth, but also, something you forgot, a very tragical nation... Further more i could disagree with the family portrait you are rendering, for as i see it, the Shapers are very deep Meritocracy, unconcerned by the daily matters of the more human enterprises such as love or the desire to favour one's offspring's chances in life... The rest is nickel, on top, la cerise sur le gateau, marvelous, so to speak.
  8. I wouldn't like to sound nasty, but seems, not that don't approve of your highly intellectual debates, but we are currently changing course from one topic to an other, that is from moving the trash to an other campsite, to basic astronomy... I suggest we move on or continue this discussion else where. Or i shall parody this thread and stun you with my awful writing!
  9. Star craft had the lamest story line ever; The actors were great but there wasn't much of an interesting story line not unlike Star wars or Exile.
  10. Wait where is Spider web? and Delicious Vlish? that diagram is incomplete you hear me incomplete! Oh and one thing you can trust only the people who don't trust you because you trust that they don't trust you. By not trusting me and I by not trusting you, we trust one an other, so we are obliged in some way to trust the internet villagers, no matter how ugly they and (so consequently you) are. You can therefore trust me. Logical is it not? No actually you wouldn't like my trust; but if you want to know more about not trusting and trusting, trust me and read Sha's Sorcerous's apprentice.
  11. But is Biology is a subset of psychology and physics? In others words Master you meant that change is life?
  12. Thanks for the information; So basically we were using quantum mechanics before we discovered gravity? I mean by that that we had the answer just under our nozes right?
  13. Bad... bad news for me. Oh well, i didn't want to cheat...
  14. That's the whole point weather it is determined or not. It's going to be hard to prove one or the other. But i'd rather read Sophocles and say much like Oedipus that i am in control of my destiny; contrary to belief Oedipus rex isn't really a tragedy... he chose many things. So here's an exemple that science is not the only thing turning away from determinism. Even religion is far from it, when it suit's it's case.
  15. *raises hand* Paleontology is my cup of tea. We dig deeper. I'd like to say that sciences are like philosophy; even though I'm pretty narrow minded my self (culpa mea), science is a very opening subject; dealing with the hows and sometime whys of reality. And why does this multi-universe theory pop up when we talk about science, it's like you desperately wanted to include the counter argument to creation all the time. And one more thing it was Clarke who had the idear of the transistor before any assumptions on quantum mechanics and string theory, not otherwise.
  16. Hi. I being a cold creature from the vespers of space, don't get cross after stupid living tools even though they are proving to be a nuisance; Being at the end of the game, (drakons taking care of the council) I can't simply find enough of them. Could you give me information on how could i manage to get some?

And one thing: Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
  18. Me? Who am I? Well as you see... -"Who? Who is but the form following the function of what and what I am is a man..." And yes, i was not around two or three years of absence, if i am correct? Also I would gladly like to comment; even though spamming or off topic content are 'illegal' to some point, i consider it to be a personal pleasure to have a chat in public. Don't you think?
  19. You die instantly if you do. But you can kill one at the end of the game; mark my words: only one.
  20. Yep, i have them on scrolls. Thanks for the rest room i didn't know that there was one.
  21. Yep, it's the wrong zone. But thanks i'll tell you when i find it; thank you all very much.
  22. The Roman Church is highly infatuated with not so contrite Priests dying for sex, they could hardly start a crusade before being buried alive under a wave of criticism and complaints. ... Who else to organise the next "Crusades"? Evangelists? Hardly, even though i've seen one trying to teach the wisdom of god with banks notes i his hands to an Arab, and also see some of them being supportive about Bush i can't say that they are evil to that extent. Am i correct or simply too naive?
  23. Is it the book his relatives set to work on? with omnibus, the no ship and the things that follow?
