  1. I got a visitor today who will stay until sunday. Her name is jaenette Fincke, and she is a specialist in Hurrian. She already helped me with defining certain cases and explaining the verb sina a better way. In the weekend I'm hoping to put the modifie pages on, as until the weekend I'll be busy with the scenario which will be finished on today or romorrow (I hope). How much testing should I do before the beta call?
  2. So, my scenario getting nearer and nearer to beta. With still 4 towns to finish (probably ready in two days), I only need some graphics for the introduction sequence of the scenario. As I am really bad with making such things, I've thought that, as the graphics of Smoo's MoC were such a success, I might ask an artist. You will have to be able to draw people, possibly cat-shaped creatures (like Nephilim) and forests/cities and the like.
  3. I was wondering, since Avernum 4 has been out for some time now, how many people actually register Avernum 4, or at least tried the demo?
  4. Question 1: What exactly seems to be the problem? You don't understand how dialogue works, from node to node? You don't understand how you should write it? What's exactly the matter? Question 2: INTRO let's you make a text that the player reads when he first meets the character. When the player meets that same charatcre a second time, you don't see the text one saw at the first meeting, but you see another text. that way you can make things like this: FIRST MEETING "You meet a lovely young chickens with feathers all around it" SECOND MEETING (and all other meetings (third fourth etc.)) "You meet the chicken again. This time, the chicken knows who you are, and starts picking at your feet"
  5. Ah. I hadn't looked there. Thanks.
  6. Yes, the info screen is exactly where I looked, but I couldn't find it anywhere. Where exactly in the info screen should I look? Code: alter_stat(0,31,2); alter_stat(1,31,2); alter_stat(2,31,2); alter_stat(3,31,2); alter_stat(4,31,2); alter_stat(5,31,2); this is how I made it. Is that correct?
  7. I'm trying to put in the dread curse upon leaving a certain town, but I don't see I get it. So I ask two things: Can somebody please show me the code that enables dread curse (so I can compare it with what I made), and how can one see he has dread curse?
  8. Yes, you're right. the icon has been swapped indeed. Strange though that I never noticed it.
  9. Why only BoE? the BoA editor itself (although immensely improved) could also use a node editor and such things. It does bother me that you have fifteen different programs and editors, while these could be combined to one.
  10. Great! This will make making that specific dungeon I'm making now a lot easier. thanks for being curious, Kelandon.
  11. i got them to work now. It will be a lot easier to look at them (although it was a great hassle to make seperate pages for all of them). Ephesos and Aran, thanks for your help.
  12. Aran: The pics are there. I think I'm gonna do it differently. that way it is supposed to work... It may be up in three or four hours.
  13. I just don't understand why the images don't expand. they should actually. maybe somebody who understands HTML better than I do, would have the time to look at it? (I look at you Aran...). Ephesos, maybe you could PM me about these things that "suggest" bad things of the plot? I'm very curious...
  14. Since I posted here information about my scenario, I thought I'd post here some more information. I put up some screenshots on my website. Feel free to look and tell me what you think, but don't expect me to change anything. Also, there seems to be a problem with the enlarging. I have no clue of why this happens.
  15. Does that mean you are also all the other people, like eldiran? Or did you just beta-test? And, what does that matter actually? I judge for what I see at the moment, and I see two people who make good scenario, but I won't start endangering the fluffy kittens here.
  16. Quote: Also, who ought to ask him, and how? Some have suggested that I ought to do it, but I'm not sure. I hope you said that because you are not an arrogant bastard. I think you or TM would be the best, as the scenario's of you two or found the best by, well, everybody. I think you two are both representatives of the blades scenario design community. Who of you two is eventually going to ask Jeff, you may fight about yourself. However, I don't want to spoil the fun, but I'd rather see that first until eight place gets a free game, instead of first, second and third a cash prize, and four and five a free game. That will mean $200 value of prizes. I think he'd rather have that (at least I would).
  17. Okay, what I now want to know, is which of the letters you don't understand how to pronounce? all? the RA, RE or R? I don't think I can upload it, ef. The file will be approximately 5 mb, and I can't upload that, for all I know, although it wwould be quite nice for the user to have a sound...
  18. I have the feeling this will become such a discussion as we had about the genitive. That worries me, to be honest. Now what exactly is it you want! Do you ask for a differenc ein terms of pronunciation (what I have tried to give for the last two days), or do you mean a difference in terms of meaning? Lets try to make that clear first. And I really don't see what the problem is. If I could just speak to you, the problem would be solved in minutes, but then again, this is a forum. Speaking to the computer doesn't have any use. recording can't be done too, as I don't have a place to upload it.
  19. Thought so. I remembered something, but I wasn't sure. So, if she does pronounce it correctly, then I don't understand that she doesn't hear a real difference. Maybe I pronounce it differently, as I maybe learnt it differently; however, my teacher is german, so i doubt that.
  20. I always see people reapeating exactly the same things. If I'm not mistaken, I've seen "You're playing the wrong game" now for three times. Anyhow, you are playing the wrong game.
  21. I actually agree with what TM just wrote there, specifically point 2. People won't just design because people tell them too, or because BoA is "dying." People start designing, in my opinion, for several reasons: 1) They want to do something new. that is why I started. 2) they have some great ideas, of which they can only find BoA as a good way to make that idea reality. 3) Some people started designing as they wanted to learn about coding, or even just designing by itself. Now, In my opinion, most people don't start designing for these reasons: 1) they think it is to difficult for them to grasp. Hey! if I understand how to make a complete factory with working machines, then why not you? To solve this problem there must be made more utilities, and probably also more usefull articles, that relate to BoA. most articles, though not strange, relate to BoE. 2) Some people have an idea, but don't know how to make a scenario from it, and some people have no idea at all. With the chat currently running, this problem is being resolved. 3) the last rpoblem is that some people just don't want to. others are doing the work, so why bother? there is no real solution for this, but to persuade this people to start designing, which most probably won't work.
  22. Quote: Originally written by Kelandon: It would help if you explained what the actual difference is. I have some guesses as to what you mean, but I can sit here guessing phonetic terms all day and we'll get nowhere. What do you hear as the difference between the normal R, the RA, and the RE? Okay, the RA in RAd is exactly the RA sound I mean. for RE, leave out the A and place there a E instead. Now ponounce it the same way as you did with RAd, but now say REd. For a simple R leave out the vowel, and just use an uvular trill. It's not so hard, it just takes a long time before we finnaly understand each other. Quote: Thralni, try as I may, I don't quite get the difference between 'Ramstein' and 'Recht'. People with very throaty voices, who place the vowels almost in their throats instead of their mouths may have to adapt a bit, is that what you mean? Ef, when you pronounce the RE and RA in those two words, you hear no difference? That is strange, actually. Either you don't pronounce it as a German would pronounce it, or you try but it doesn't work out. I do hear a difference, and I hear it quite well. Quote: First you said that the Rs were different. Now you seem to be saying they're the same and that it's just the vowels that follow them that are different. Which is it? The R is the same, but the vowel that follows the R makes the sound lightly different. One may say now that it's actually the same letter, but it changes when a different vowel is after it. No. that is nonsense, for several reasons, which I'll only state if somebody asks for it. I don't have the time at the moment to start explaining that too. I have a scenario to finish, too.
  23. It is very hard to make you understand what i mean. the R in R, Ra and Re is pronounced the same, but it is the E in rE and the A in rA that makes the difference. Is it possible that I mean an A or E as an uvular trill, which is pronounced as RA and RE?
  24. I fiannly finished ALL towns in my scenario. coding of dialogue for two and a half town is left, plus coding of specials in about five towns. however, most of these things will be easily and hopefully quickly done. I also drew an extremely ugly map of the outdoor section of my scenario. one can look at it on my website. Just look at the most recent "news" addition (2 - 17 - 2006), and click on the "here" link.
  25. except for the fact that a R is put at different places than the Ra and RE, the RA and E are simply pronounced in a slightly different way. While the R is just an uvular trill, the RA is pronounced as in the RA of Ramstein. the RE is pronounced as the RE in (the German) Recht. It makes a difference if you say miRArim, or miRErim. mirarim is a verb, mirerim is just a horrible pronunciation mistake.
