  1. I'd love a copy, personally. EphesosSH (at) aol (dot) com
  2. From the list, definitely Zkal... anything that drains SP just hurts my brain. But from anything, I'd have to say that one dungeon in A3 with all the Abyssal Slimes... simply horrendous. Wait, that wasn't Pit of the Wyrm, right?
  3. Well, there are already a few of them, like Babysitting, Roses of Reckoning, Cave of No Return, and Lord Putidus. That, and this topic's been done before. Prefab parties... that just takes the fun out of it. And if you really want that, just go with the HLPM.
  4. Still in development, a scenario for either 20-30 or 30-40, unsure of how many towns, but it looks like 6-9 outdoor sections right now. In any case, bigger & better than DoK. Estimated time of completion: no idea whatsoever. I'm taking my time on this one.
  5. Hm... I'm sensing a lot of random energy and unresolved anger in that post... I also sense it was written under the heavy influence of caffeine. On topic, I suppose it makes perfect sense to the Vahnatai themselves, so who are we to judge? And if there's anyone who would know about them, I think it's Drakefyre.
  6. Yes, 'twas a bit of a ripoff, really. Particularly after A2's ending.

  8. Well, Arcane Summon was useful in A3 and semi-useful in A2. The only summoning in BoA I ever use is Simulacrum, which can be horribly broken if you use it in a boss battle. EDIT: Divine Host was also awesome, particularly when you could still summon Vengeful Shades at level 3.
  9. Very simple questions: have you ever completed a game without the hintbook, have you ever overused it, and have you ever regretted using it? Myself, I've played A2 & 3 with gratuitous use of the hintbook, and I'm just now getting through A2 again without the book (anyway, I think I lost it).
  10. So, you can theoretically finish the game while "accidentally" going off to kill the dragons, with virtually no limitations. Interesting. I should try that.
  11. Hm... in that case, is there any practical reason that someone would use a regular bow instead of a crossbow? My current A2 party has refused to make the switch.
  12. Hm... that would make things more difficult. Again, I was cursed with the temptation of the hintbook when I first played A3, so I never even had a doubt. I expect that if you kill the dragons, you just don't get that Beastslayer sword. I can't remember any other significant plot impacts they had.
  13. Well, I knew you could get the odd weapons, but I didn't know anybody would attack them. Out of curiosity, what happens if you attack them (and assumedly kill them)? About the red herring... weird. So old school environmentalists used fish?
  14. Well, thanks for the clarification, anyway. I just didn't remember from the last time I played A2, because I overused the hintbook that time. Note: I atone for this sin, and am playing it completely sans hintbook this time. Red herrings can be fun, and they would've made A3 more fun. Imagine attacking the wrong group for the plagues (i.e.: if you actually got all of dragonkind up against you, or possibly accused the Anama of causing an apocalypse), and the plot twists that would result. Even though the coding would be painful for such in-depth red herrings, it would still be cool. Lastly, why's it called a red herring? Who looks for off-colored fish in a mystery?
  15. Okay, there's a corpse in the outdoors in A2, northeast of the Moldy Cavern (the one with the graymold). You can only see it via Far Sight, and I don't think there's a way to reach it even with the Orb. Anybody know what's there (if anything)? Anybody even know what I'm talking about? I'd clarify, but the A2 map site is still down. EDIT: As the question was answered and the topic changed, so has the title.
  16. Setting? Hm... this has definitely been debated (and is still far from settled), but I think that the best settings would be either deep in Vahnatai lands or deep in Empire territory (i.e.: the capital province). Basically, you need somewhere a little fresh (i.e.: not Valorim), unless you pay immense attention to the details of what's left in that area at the game's time (i.e.: Tower of Magi between A2 & 3). However, it can't be too far removed from the action, though the Vahnatai would likely make sure that everywhere on the surface is involved/attacked. Thus, for freshness and connection to the plot, it should either be the Empire's capital or the Vahnatai homelands.
  17. Hm... let's see, it'll be interesting to see how the rest of the Empire responds to the treaty with Avernum. After all, you can't expect everyone to have abided by it, and Prazac probably put herself in a difficult political position by making the treaty. Other loose ends: -Rentar-Ihrno isn't actually gone, just sulking (and what about peaceful Vahnatai?). -The dragons spoke of a more intense revenge planned, and that was never really explained. -The skribbane problem must be spreading through Valorim. -There are still troglodytes and giants wandering around. -The ruins of the plagues still need to be cleaned up (i.e.: all of Footracer Province) -How did the rest of the Empire (outside of Valorim) react to this whole thing? -What about the exodus from Avernum? Who will stay behind, and how will they deal with the Vahnatai? I think Jeff has his work cut out for him story-wise, and I'd like to see any of those plot points cleaned up in A4.
  18. Yep... tried it, and it didn't work unless I put it in the blue rectangle. In any case, the ending works better like that. Kharprev. Doesn't sound like much of anything. Just opened to K in the disctionary and modified something. Once I (try to) fix the bugs that keep appearing for Windows users, I should be able to release 2.0 of this scenario. And I've managed to avoid a few stupid things that I couldn't find alternatives to with the contest deadline on.
  19. Groan... good thing I wasn't ready to send it in yet. Note: Really didn't intend the similarity, it just leapt to mind as something close to the old name.
  20. Groan... I was afraid of that. The call was in a state reached from START_STATE in a town. This will mean another plot alteration... At least I'm finally fixing my scenario's ending. It'll be interesting to re-release it and see what people think of it... (and I finally fixed the dragon's name. Kalthras can't be warped by you people)
  21. Okay, I'm trying to use move_to_new_town at the end of a cutscene, and everything else in the particular state works. However, once it reaches... move_to_new_town(4,12,22); it stops working (i.e.: nothing happens). I'm using Mac OS X, with version 1.1.2 of BoA. Anybody know of a solution/workaround?
  22. Quote: Originally written by Kelandon: (Let it be noted that kuc was more likely pointing out that it's spelled "Lorelei" than actually asking where the town is.) I should certainly hope so. Otherwise, that's kind of sad, given how many map sites are out there (along with the one in the hintbook).
  23. Hm... it can depend on which template you're using... it's cr_small_or_large_template (= 0 or 1). Try switching it from whatever you had it at. I had the same problem with some of my graphics.
  24. Thank you for the help, everyone, but that wasn't quite what I had in mind... I just wanted a method for a party to go out via a set of stairs (like they would a portal) and end up in the outdoors automatically. In any case, I learned that it can't be done, and just modified my plot to fit that.
  25. Okay, here's a problem. I can't get a party to leave a town using change_outdoor_location... the party's meant to leave a cave via a set of stairs which has the scripting: change_outdoor_location(1,1,37,23); All this does is move the town itself to that location, so the party has to head back out the entrance again. I want the party to get sent out of the town directly into the outdoors... and I can't find a way to do that.
