  1. If that doesn't work, e-mail spidweb@spiderwebsoftware.com They usually respond to their e-mails pretty quickly (within 24 hours).
  2. There is no chance of that happening. Jeff refuses to lower prices by a single dollar, so it's highly unlikely that he will ever agree to drop them all the way to zero. Besides, that might cut into his Avernum sales.
  3. Do you, and/or anybody else who has been taking notes, want to combine our notes and make one faq/walkthrough? I am making lists of locations of the following: canisters, books, trainers (including costs and required alignments), special items, charms, some other powerful items. I am also writing down my solutions to areas I find particularly tricky. I've just finished Harmony Island, so it will probably be a few weeks until I finish the game and have complete notes, but if you already have notes on some of the things I am taking notes on, I can get through the game faster. PS If you want, you can format your notes and walkthroughs and e-mail them to me and I'll combine them with what I have so far to start a webpage similar to my A2 and Nethergate pages (both of which are based on Shrodinger's faqs).
  4. You can find detailed walkthroughs for all areas in Shrodinger's faq http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/game/562951.html The section on Sealed Labs contains step by step directions on where to go and what control panels to use.
  5. You might not be in too much trouble, because many creations have more than 1 canister available. You can check Shrodinger's faq http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/game/918441.html for locations of all canisters/books/stat-giving quests in the game.
  6. Shrodinger, who made faqs for Gf 1 and 2 now has better things to do than writing detailed walkthroughs. I am taking carefull notes as I am going through the game and will probably put together a less ambitious faq when I am done.
  7. Does his reaction depend on the pro-shaper v. pro-servile opinions you give?
  8. There are many possible explanations. For example: 1. Considering that it doesn't destroy entire castle, it's probably not real quickfire, but some weaker substitute. (A pipe, pouring a steady stream of oil set on fire would work quite nicely.) 2. The large troop formations are always led by commanders with apropriate clearance. As for small raiding parties from local garrisons, the guards know them personally, because they live in the same barracks.
  9. Quote: Originally written by Telanos: ... Anyways, with the parry skill, I assume that you get 50% chance of parrying and riptose once with get a it to 15 (since thats the number everyone seems to be throwing around). Does this mean that anything beyond that is wasted? (IE, putting in a 16th or 17th point into Parry gets you nothing and is wasted) Yes, it appears to be useless to raise your parry beyond the point at which you get 50% ripost chance. (I don't remember if it happens at 15, or some higher level.) There might be some more subtle effects at higher levels, but I never noticed any.
  10. Dryaks at Taker Tall Road are very difficult, even with Parry at 15. Try to fight them 1 or 2 at a time. As soon as one of them sees you, run to hide behind a distant corner. That should give you time to deal with a couple of them before the rest get there. Use speed spores, instead of spell to get yourself extra time during first round of combat. And make sure you take out all the groups and the cryodryaks near exit before dealing with the Drakon. Even with these tricks, it still took me a few trials to take out each group as a guardian. PS Try to get your parry high enough for a 50% chance of ripost. (There are some Parry canisters in the game.) That 50% ripost often does more damage than your own attacks.
  11. I prefer to use creations. After all, that's the whole point of being a Shaper. So I just take whichever weapon gives best bonuses to my creations and stand back while they do all the work.
  12. However, there is a non-bug method to safely steal many items in buildings: go into a building and close the door behind you. If the guards can't see you, you won't get caught, so closing the door behind you can make many additional items accessable to unscurpulous characters.
  13. If you are going to go so far, you might as well use one of the editors to get all the money you want. Killing random townspeople destroys your RP experience (unless you are intentionally RPing a homosidal maniac ) and blowing up friendly people by remotely absorbing pyroroamers is exploitation of a loophole in game mechanics. So if this is ok with you, you can save a lot of time by simply using an editor.
  14. Try downloading them again. Perhaps the files got corrupted during the download.
  15. I guess I was confusing it with Exile 2. In that case, I don't have any more suggestions.
  16. I think so. If I remember correctly, unregistered version can: heal party, restore magic, give food and/or gold, take party out of town, make towns forget you (in case you've made some towns angry at you) and restore boats to their starting locations. PS Welcome to the forums. PPS If you want to add something to your previous, please use EDIT button instead of making 2 posts in a row.

If so, I'm screwed over because Fort Draco is out of boats and I lost the one I used on that waterway. ;; You can use character editor to return all boats to their starting locations. As for your first question, I don't know.
  18. Did you try reinstalling DirectX?
  19. I just reread that secret in the script files and I have to say "wow!". It turns out I was wrong about that secret. When I originally played Geneforge, the secret was simply a very nice piece of information. However, rereading it now, after seeing the story of Geneforge 2 and beginning of Geneforge 3, I see a whole new meaning for that text. Here it is. (*Spoiler Warning!*) http://www.geocities.com/zeviz1/Geneforge_secret.html
  20. I've just e-mailed the files to you. If anybody else is having same problems, I can e-mail you the files tomorrow. (I am at work now and I wouldn't want to try e-mailing these files over my home's modem connection.) PS Somebody should probably tell Spidweb that their downloads don't work for some people.
  21. I just downloaded all 3 of them. So if anybody is having problems with Spidweb servers, I can e-mail them to you.
  22. EDIT: Wrong thread. I meant to post this in tech support.
  23. Do you mean the pillars you find in various areas? (Some of the pillars give you an option to touch them. When you do, either nothing happens, or you get a good feeling.) If these are the pillars you are talking about, they are used for getting into ancient temple. (Look at the "How to get into the temple in Spirit City" topic.)
  24. I lost my registration a few hard drive crashes ago, but I can probably find the info in dialogue scripts. I guess I'll try this when I get home this evening.
  25. **Possible SPOILER Ahead** If I remember correctly, the basic idea is that there were people on Sulica Island before Shapers got there (like Native Americans) and those people could use magic. These people are responsible for the ruins that you find in various places. This looks unticlimatic as a one sentence summary, but is a lot more impressive as several screens of information given to you in the game atmosphere as a reward for solving a hard puzzle.
