  1. We've discussed this before. It seems that Avernum lacks the ability to make lanterns and candles that actually provide light. An obvious Vahnatai plague!
  2. Around midgame I don't pick anything up really. It's just trash any way. There are plenty of coins on the humanoid monsters.
  3. Normally I turn off background sounds. So I really wouldn't know.
  4. The castle is so large. Only 7 castle lengths across the Eastern gallery. No wonder Avernum has monster problems. Spending priorities?

  6. I like the idea of being sent or say teleported somewhere at the beginning of the game, and not being able to return to Avernum until the very end. Basically being trapped in a strange land. And Demons could still play some role, But no more than a small sidequest.
  7. When Jeff makes A5 he should not bother recreating the whole of Avernum. As I'm sure he tires of making the same town multiple times. The adventure should begin perhaps at the Castle. From there the party could be sent to a newly discovered cave sytem that Averenties are just begining to settle. In short The Great Cave, Eastern gallery, and so on shouldn't really play a role in A5 as there are, I assume, numerous cave systems that could be exploited beyond these.
  8. I agree that tracking should be a whole screen. I didn't enjoy having to find the halfway point then move the screen again just to move across one big section. I also agree with Thuryl on the idea or replaying an RPG. Normally once is enough for me.
  9. I do not like the grid or knowing how many HPs a monster has left. Please give me an option to turn this feature off in A5!
  10. Well of course it is. No farmers no horrible mushroom flavoured beer, candy, pies, or cereal.
  11. If I remember correctly the item known as Tools looks rather like a set of keys. I guess keys are tools.
  12. Oui, portraits where a nice feature of the previous games. At the very least it helped to remind me what my character's names where.
  13. Whatever happened to the ambidextrous ability that Averenties possessed in E1-E3?

  15. Quote: Originally written by Dintiradan: EDIT: Also, A4 seems to have a cameo of TM: Your conversation with this sailor is very short. It mostly involves his asking why you are in his room, combined with several harsh comments regarding your appearance, ancestry, and the availability of your mother.
  16. No Doubt. I left that stupid machine on. I didn't have enough tool use. But damn that was annoying. Actually the Demonslayer quest was the biggest challenge in the game. Well for my party it was, at that time.

  18. Hopefully the problem will be fixed in future games.
  19. Lol. For sure. Forget the magic anvil spell. X should get to work on functional lanterns. Perhaps the Vahnatai are responsible. A last ditch effort by Rentar's supporters to give everyone really sore eyes.
  20. I believe we have a case for the invention of light in A5. Perhaps The king could, like, issue an edict or something. BTW 1900 posts fo sho.
  21. As I've said before the lack of lighting devices was sometimes annoying. Though I didn't find the caves unbearably dark. But couldn't I just use one of the many lanterns laying around.
  22. Yes. I had trouble finding the entrance too.
  23. Yes! I can finally view the results to my own poll. What a thought.
  24. I like the lanterns and candles too. But I would like to have been able to actually use them. Several times I thought the caves needing a bit more light, but was unable to do anything about it.
