  1. Counterpoint: There isn't a Purifying Blade equivalent for ranged weapons. That thing is crazy strong and Lifedrain was healing me for 80-170 HP per turn if I could get two attacks off.
  2. I scored 9 or 10 in Drypeak, the Drypeak Warrens, and Sharon's Grove. I need them for my own research...
  3. I must admit it feels a little weird to get introduced to this cool enchanted anvil at the start of the game, only to go over half of my playthrough being completely unable to use it. By the time I finally upgraded my Helix Band, it was obsolete since I was fighting drakons in the snowy peaks.
  4. HAH! Finally I have hit level 3!! I had to sneak and scrap and scrounge up all the iron I could for XP, but getting saltweed from Sharon's finally put me over the edge and I can get Zora now. What a gamechanger. I dumped all 10 of my first skill points into Leadership and Mechanics so this never happens again. I can't wait for my 90 lb Shaper to guzzle every canister he comes across! I am sure this will have no ramifications later on.
  5. "Only" lore related things? That's half the reason to explore.
  6. Not walking into Drypeak with any mechanics or leadership is probably the worst part. I'm passing up so much loot!!
  7. I quite like the title screen music in this one, it really helps set the vibe for such a fraughtful, manipulative journey full of discovery. I dunno what kind of instruments are used, but I dig it. Would anyone happen to know something that sounds similar, or would be suitable listening while playing? The various Oddworld soundtracks give me a similar semi-oppressive feeling.
  8. This is fantastic. I love the Geneforge games, but I also have a love for more complex RPGs. It's nice to see someone take the time to focus on G2 now that Jeff's done with it and will probably move onto something else soon. This is just in time for my Shaper Barzite/Taker playthrough. Thanks! EDIT: Woah, the shaper is blue now. Was it always like that? DOUBLE EDIT: Oh boy. With a warning like this, you really know how to treat a fellow, huh? You're not joking about being weaker...
  9. You're being conspiratorial! Aren't serviles not quite the same as humans, biologically? Why did it also affect Emily?
  10. Yeah, but that wasn't an engineered disease, as far as I could tell. It seems to have just come up from people living in a swamp, which sounds normal to me.
  11. Ah, I haven't played GF3 in almost a decade, nor did it really stick with me. Thanks for the reminder!
  12. How come shapers don't do more bio-warfare, anyway? Lack of ability? Actual ethical limitations?
  13. Y'know, if Barzhal hadn't gotten eaten by a drayk then I bet he would've reduced the social gap between shapers and commons. By making everyone canister-crazy. But still!
  14. YOU make a pool that gives you +8 in nearly every skill and try not to get an ego about it. That being said, you're absolutely right with how Danette and friends could've just presented the knowledge of genetics to the Council and revolutionized the world forever. They couldn't even wait to get off Sucia and let someone else go crazy with the power, they just IMMEDIATELY jumped straight to self-modification! I haven't replayed GF1 since the remake came out, did they ever describe in detail how they made the jump from "reading DNA" to "magic goop that makes you a god"? Dude, why not just make a canister that makes you better at making canisters?
