  1. There exists many pieces of free music all over the place (example, look at some open source projects). They have no royalties as per their open licenses, so they have no cost.

Either Jeff doesn't want music in his games, or he hasn't found any free music that he is happy with. Cost is not the limiting factor.

  2. 1. You don't want four characters?

    2. I have found that my first attempts are at slightly too low level, and after coming back they are much easier. What's your level at Slith King?

In general I try to eliminate enemy mages first, before the most dangerous melee attackers, then priests, and then the rest of ranged & weak melee.

With a boss fight, I usually whittle boss while clearing mages through priests, before focusing on boss and finally clearing ranged & weak melee trash.

  3. I agree on Mass Effect as far as completing a playthrough on veteran, before replaying for max level on insanity and having balanced combat.

I can remember several games that feature the tutorial/introductory sequence with high level characters before starting at low level.

Also, I believe a couple games start with mid-level characters which lose strength over time (before the end, you can reverse this to attain high level).

at level 1 they have a bunch of abilities

This would be like Blades of Exile?

  4. North is "Up" for me, I don't know what you're talking about.

I never finished a game in the remix because I thought the changes were too perverse and created more imbalance than the original game.

When I tried remix, I thought that ranged characters were boosted, you didn't want one?

I found none of my mages or other characters had extra skill points (except archer if I had one) since raising Hardiness is a priority for everyone.

I didn't have problems with hit at your part of the game with a stat point distribution of 3 in main to-hit stat, 1 in endurance.

Basically for Torment, all of the "waiting" strategies are torture, so yes it is understandable to just spend your resources earlier.

All I can say is push on, hit level 30, and good luck.

  5. Sure why not, there is a lot of flexibility in party composition able to complete the Avernum titles.

You should consider making them nonhuman but other than that, you are going to miss mage spells. You will have to manage items to counter this.

I think the more natural 2-man party would be fighter/priest and mage/priest but you should be able to do it.

Using fewer party members usually means more planning on character skill points distributions, eg. just enough to unlock special skills, or whatever.

  6. I think the theory was that sarcasm is really dismissive. It talks right past you on purpose, and that says you really don't matter.

Implying that "critical humor ... at privates' expense" be it "insulting" or "absurd" doesn't produce the same effect.

  7. either escape or prevent it from happening to others in the future or kill off a Demon.

Why not all of the above?

But yes, belonging in a side seems to happen more in Geneforge and Avadon for the overall game rather than a smaller part like the Anama in Avernum 3.
