  1. Well, you could "kill" Rentar-Ihrno by bringing her health down to 1, knowing that if she wasn't invincible that she would be dead. That's what I did. She doesn't even have more health than Sulfras (who I actually did kill). After that I pressed the buttons and won. And Erika's "epic" fight wouldn't be epic either way, because all I saw her do was summon garbage and cast weak spells like icy rain. Rentar-Ihrno did that most of her turns, too. That's not epic, that's boring.
  2. I was wondering what happened if you DIDN'T have the thought crystal. I was disappointed that you didn't get to fight the crystal souls that were supposed to be there. Toast, I had the crystal and Rentar-Ihrno simply teleports them away after they fall asleep (that's apparently what it does, it makes them go dormant). You don't get to fight them if you have it, I guess. I THINK I recall in Avernum 3 that if you don't have it you fight them and Rentar-Ihrno teleports the remainder away after you kill one of them, but I could be making that up, or it could have happened in Exile 3?
  3. Playing on normal means you certainly don't need to put points into endurance. Heck, torment almost means you can't put points into endurance, because if you focus too much on HP you won't really be able to hit higher-level enemies reliably. I didn't put a single point into endurance. Torment encourages you to kill fast, because most things will kill you pretty fast even with endurance. The only health additions I got were from the health traits, because they become more and more valuable as you level up. That was my experience, anyways. That said, the difficulty is front-loaded on torment, and it became ridiculously easy towards the end since I put all my stat points into strength and dexterity at the beginning for the warrior and archer, respectively, and only towards the end started training both in dexterity and strength. The casters never trained in anything but intelligence. I imagine it would be really difficult to mess up on normal.
  4. Hello. I know there is a store somewhere that sells a bag of sugar, and I need it for an item quest. Does anyone remember which one it is? Thanks.
  5. I'm not sure what the bonus is for nephil. My archer gets tons of turns because of sniper and adrenaline rush too, but doesn't do that much damage. What are you equipped with that lets you do that much?
  6. I know it doesn't count sage lore, but the 18 total isn't right, either. I have 9 Vahnatai Lore and 9 total arcane lore, but it's not enough. I actually tested out how many more points of arcane lore I needed. At 22 there was enough skill to read it (4 more levels of arcane lore).
  7. Hello. The spell is found in the graveyard east of Torria, correct? The list says it needs 18 total Vahnatai and arcane lore, but I have well above this amount and still cannot understand it.
  8. I can't get to any beams other than the first ones you come across after the teleporter puzzle. The path is immediately blocked by beams.
  9. Hello. I am under the tower, and used the portals in the right combination to get to a new area, but the path is immediately blocked by beams. Looking at Randomizer's list indicates that there are mirrors somewhere that you use move mountains to reach, but there are no cracked walls anywhere, and I've randomly used move mountains in a lot of places with no success. What am I supposed to do now? Thanks.
  10. Yeah, I was completely thrown off by that when I found it. I was thinking, hmm, is it better for my resistance-less warrior to equip this? It is worth 4,000 gold...but I also have Temperate Necklace offering much needed elemental resistance so she doesn't get one-shotted by drakes all the time...I chose the necklace, but still held on to the Talisman for some reason.
  11. That's what I was thinking. It's not entirely clear WHO walled up the mage in the sewer, but with the Anama temple above-ground, it's definitely pointing a finger... I think I want to raid their vault, too! Just after getting all the dread curses...
  12. Ah, I had a question. What did you do about arcane lore? Can one person get enough to get access to most spells?
  13. So this mage/priest didn't have much in the way of fighting ability? How many of your stat points went into intelligence as opposed to all the other stats? Did it involve an insane amount of luck and cheesing the fights (ending combat before the round is up comes to mind)?
  14. Ah, that's not something I checked on. Yeah, I talked to Ahonar to lose the rings. Although, there is something I wonder about after reaching the second floor of the temple. Why do the Anama leaders feel the need to spy on their followers while they are worshipping? It makes me wonder if they don't have some ulterior motive for their church...
  15. Yeah, I figured that would be the case, especially with that experience change. I'll probably lose my sanity before finishing a torment singleton run. Perhaps I'll try normal.
  16. Hello. I am getting close to finishing my party run of A3, and am thinking of starting a torment singleton. I noticed how powerful dexterity is in avoiding attacks in the group run, with my archer having a pretty low chance of being hit by most enemies with high dexterity. It makes me think of basing a singleton around evasion. Would this be feasible on torment? Would it be remotely possible to have a full mage-priest (19 in both), or will skill point allocation be forced to be different by game restraints on torment (I think I probably know the answer to this one)? I know Randomizer has apparently completed two singleton torment runs, so that input would be appreciated. Thanks.
  17. Actually, I found that there is one permanent consequence, that being that you can't really join the Anama (he says something about being permeated with magic or something). Thanks.
  18. Hello. I was wondering if there were any downsides that were permanent that were caused by fake-joining the Anama, or if you could take advantage of all that the Anama offered (including quests and items that were previously unobtainable) and then get them destroyed and not miss out on anything as if you had never joined them (like joining the Divine Lucre, if you wanted to). Thanks.
  19. I was guessing that was it after stopping the plague didn't change the prices. Guess that means more job board quests. Non-humans suck in this one, anyways. Sure isn't worth the extra traits to have a flat one-time bonus. At least now I know I can't get the price lower for sniper anywhere else. I'm close to having 20 points in sniper with items, so presumably that means double shots every round...
  20. Mrrr in Malloc trains at exorbitant prices, not extremely cheap. Is there something you need to do first?
  21. Hello. I was wondering if anyone who has played through Torment difficulty without ever changing the difficulty knows whether or not a hybrid archer/fighter can actually hit things in the endgame? As it is, I have been putting ALL of my fighter's/archer's stat points into only strength and only dexterity, respectively. But in the past games I've always trained both in both, such that at the end my warrior and archer were essentially flipped versions of one another (Strength 35, Dexterity 24 for the warrior, and Strength 24, Dexterity 35 for the archer). I seem to remember them being effective in both even against most endgame enemies. Does this work in A3? I almost feel like it wouldn't, because there are out-of-depth enemies (like the Haakai in the Troglo Temple) that are really hard to hit even putting all stat points into only one stat. Thanks.
