What's the point of no return?

Without spoiling the plot, at what point in the game is it too late for me to go back and finish up companion quests or clear out old areas? Does it flat-out tell you, like in the endgame of A1?

There's not as clear an advance warning as there was for Avadon 1. The point of no return occurs during the quest "The Final Hunt": at one point during the quest you'll go down a trapdoor that wasn't accessible before, and you'll encounter a rebel leader and some basilisks. Once that's happened, you're on the endgame path and can't turn back.

I assumed, for all practical purposes, that going to the Tawon Empire for the Final Hunt was pretty much the point of no return. (Of course, by the time I realized I'd screwed up my builds and needed more consumables, I was in the final FIGHT and had to start over.)

I was a bit worried about this as well; after starting Dedrik's quest, I let it sit for a while and went off to do other tasks. When I eventually talked to him again in Avadon, the dialog indicated that the quest was over, that I had failed to complete it. But it was still active, and still allowed me to finish...

I think Dedrik's quest is a little buggy. I refused it, but it's still on my quest list and marked on my map.
