G2 - Safe place to leave items?

Where is a safe place to leave my items? Easily accessible, where they won't disappear, and where the people won't become hostile no matter what faction I decide to join.

You can leave it anyplace. If you are worried about hostilities, then I recommend a cleared zone before the first town. In general the first town will be neutral for most of the game.

 

It also helps to place items in small piles that are far enough apart that you won't see other piles when you click g or i to see items on the ground. It makes it faster when finding a specific item.

I put my stuff at the east exit in Medab. The awakened will not turn hostile just because you join another faction. Also allows you to have multiple piles closeby but separated through the walls.
