Tenderfoot Thahd Nekhen
I am about 50 hours into the game - I have 2 Fighters a Mage and a Priest -- my expectation was for my Mage to be of more use than the Priest but so far the Priest is the most usefull- wondering if this is typical? Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
It depends upon weapons, spell selection, and difficulty. Generally mages in the middle and end game provide the powerful area attacks.
Understated Ur-Drakon Earth
priest is ok against single enemy but after mage gets area spells like ice spray or lightning spray mage pawns, that's why its good to have mage with priest skil and vice versa. Rotghroth Rhapsody The Reverend
The priest does have a couple of nice area attacks - I'm thinking of divine fire and divine retribution in particular. But yes, the mage does have a greater variety of useful area attacks. On the other hand, the priest's healing and unshackle mind skills can be a big help in certain battles. Understated Ur-Drakon Earth
sure divine fire and retribution are nice but those are gotten lateish game and use alot mana. lightning spray stays usable even at lateish game and isn't that mana consuming. Magnificent Ornk Dikiyoba
The priest has Call the Storm. That's a reliable, fairly cheap, multi-target damager dealer that you can get early on and stays useful until you can replace it with Divine Fire. Dikiyoba found it really useful against the sliths and drakes you start running across once you hit The Honeycomb and exploring around Fort Dranlon. Rotghroth Rhapsody The Reverend
Running out of mana isn't a problem if you're willing to consume the occasional energy potion/elixir - there are a ton of them in the game.
