Curious Artila Andariel
Well, Spiderweb guys have to do something about that...
Rotghroth Rhapsody Kreador
It's not unlikely that the music is from a commercial music source and not composed specifically for either Spiderweb or the Malevolence folks. Not plagiarism. Looks like it could be a cool game, though.
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
Jeff got burned early in his career with being given sound code from another game and having to remove it since it was not given with the creator's permission. Since then he's very careful to use material that is clearly marked as public domain or that he can buy from reliable sources. Some of the music is used by several companies. Unflappable Drayk Ceiling Durkheim
Yeah, a lot of trailer music gets reused in both the movie and video game industries. Tracks by companies like X-Ray Dog and Immediate Music get spread around a lot.
Curious Artila Andariel
You're sure about that? Cause it's not only the trailer's music, but it's also the main theme. So it has to be more official than just a trailer music, I guess...
Unflappable Drayk Ceiling Durkheim
Not necessarily. Avernum 6's main theme, for instance, appears to be credited to Dan Foster, of filmtv-tracks.com. I'm not sure what sorts of deals Jeff makes with the composers, but they may well not be exclusive.
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
From Jeff's Blog Quote: Sound Effects - When I need sounds, I always go to SoundDogs and Shockwave Sound first. Quality stuff, very reasonable prices. Everyone uses these sound libraries. I often hear sound effects from my games on TV. Don't worry about this. Nobody will hold it against you. I often get e-mails saying that some TV series stole my sound effects. That's right. The Cartoon Network totally needs to steal from me. The same applies to music. Somewhere there is a topic mentioning the sources for the music.
Fledgling Fyora Duke
On youtube comments dev said 6 months ago "Hi! Avadon used a similar version of the song. It's called "King's Valor" and was written and composed by the talented Pierre Gerwig Langer, who licensed it to use to use in the trailer. It's an amazing piece, isn't it?"
