  1. That's news to me. I thought NPCs tolerance is related to your overall reputation: The more we liked you, the more we react kindly to your thievery. So, in that case, what are the effects of a bad reputation on NPCs? PS: You're sure it's "steel" instead of "steal"?
  2. Well, it's actually a French review (the only one out there?), but a review nevertheless. Anyway, here's the translated summary just for you: Avernum: Escape From The Pit may well be a remake of a remake of an antediluvian indie game, it is nevertheless refreshing and invigorating. It must be said that its flavor is immune to time, its taste oblivious to technology. That impalpable little something often noted when we run out of words to qualify great things, it's there somewhere. Avernum is certainly limited by its creator’s capabilities in terms of modest design and technological level, and has neither the claim nor the means to shake the old school RPG references. The shape is not exactly the most attractive and the design is marked by a blatant classicism, but the content is enthralling, fascinating and inspiring. Isn’t it the most important? Pros: - Masterly literary writing - Tactical and strategical combat - Appreciable exploration and freedom - Decent lifespan (60h +) - Ridiculously low price (10 bucks) Cons: - Some technical deficiencies (Interface, AI and pathfinding) - Audio is somewhat recessed - More munchkin-oriented than Role Play-based (Poor C&C RP and some filler quests) Score: 8/10 Here's a google-translated link (for what it's worth): http://translate.google.com/translate?hl...pe-from-the-pit Here's the original one: http://www.rpgfrance.com/test-9991-1-avernum-escape-from-the-pit
  3. Yeah I know, I'm starting to be annoying with my stupid inquiries... I'm stuck in the Shattered Fort where I must unlock a golden padlock in the northern section with a (golden, I presume) key. But no matter how I searched, no clue where It would be. Need help (again) .
  4. Thanks! I finally figured it out. The waterfalls were misleading me cause they're a one way ticket no coming back. I'm quite disappointed by the orb though. I thought it would be a free roam not limited in turns, which is actually more a jump than a flight...
  5. I searched for quite some time for a way to access Waterfall Warren to no avail. I have unclocked giants ships and I explored the whole northern Avernum. I also reached Tss-Thss stronghold... What's the way to reach Waterfall Warren? From where must I travel to reach it? Thanks
  6. Yeah thanks! found it! It's a greenish secret passage, I'm more used to the yellowish 'shroomy ones
  7. Clive in Dharmon asked me to retrieve a lost caravan of iron bars south of Fort Spire. I just can't find it. Can anyone help?

  9. Actually, I'm displeased that there are indicators on Avernum's map which show you quest markers. It's an odd modern Skyrimy feature to be put into an old school game like this... So, personally, I love getting lost in dungeon crawlers and I liked that darkness feature in Avernum. If you find yourself too confused by Avernum, confused (), you should try Legend of Grimrock for a change (oops, spider-sense tingling?)
  10. Are you sure about that? It's not really what I'm getting from the old fans I saw in the forums... They say that Avernum is somewhat Avadonised, some even say it's dumbed down... The skill progression is more assisted, no more recruitable NPCs, no more alchemy, no more survival-system (food and rest system), health regeneration, game's less challenging, stuff like that, you know? Seems like those changes could impact on game experience, no?
  11. hey! Out of curiosity, I'd like to know if Avernum EFtP stays true to Avernum 1 (and Exile?). Apart from the engine, what are the main differences between the 2 versions? Are differences in the good or the bad side? I know by experience that remakes always stray from the original versions. Is it also the case here? Do you recommend playing Avernum 1 (or even Exile?) instead of (or at least, after) EFtP for someone who doesn't care about its old graphics, or one can easily forget about it?
  12. Well, seems nobody gives a damn about that... Thanks for your support...
  13. I had similar issues with Avadon but it wasn't as frequent and bothersome as with Avernum. Really, every 10 minutes or so, the game freezes, the windows cursor appears and shortly I find myself in front of a "Avernum has stopped working" window. And you can't imagine how it's frustrating. Mayday mayday please send help! My system: Windows Vista 32b
  14. Well, I think it's more related to Spiderweb's new engine compatibility with Vista since the issue only concerns Avadon and Avernum. And I have no idea how to locate the crash report, to say the truth Anyway, thanks for your attention. I'll go post in tech support for more visibility (I hope) Admins can delete this thread if they want.

  16. Last part of the Black Isle's Review, its consecration, its downfall and its legacy: Black Isle Review part 2 Here's the original text, if you don't want to see garlic Thanks for your attention
  17. Hey guys! Don't shoot! I'm not a spamming bot and this is not an ad! I just thought old school RPGers like Spiderweb fans would be interested by that: The history, details, people behind this legendary studio who created some of the best CRPGs ever like Fallout, Baldur's Gate, Planescape : Torment and more. Here's the link people: Black Isle Studios Review Enjoy!
  18. You're sure about that? Cause it's not only the trailer's music, but it's also the main theme. So it has to be more official than just a trailer music, I guess...
  19. Well, Spiderweb guys have to do something about that...

Anyway, Avernum'll be out tomorrow, and somehow I know that it was worth the wait after all.
  21. Hi everyone! Well, actually, the "us" in the title refers to PC users. It may sound a bit paranoid, but it's definitely what I feel. Spiderweb, you're an awesome studio, with awesome games and an awesome spirit. But, with all due respect, you really need to know that your politics against PC users sucks. As a Microsoft user I feel more and more frustrated by your disrespectful treatement to the plateform that I'm using, and thus I don't feel respected as a customer. Mac and Apple always come first, it has all your attention and all the appealing stuff. PC is simply neglected, as if PC users are unworthy and useless. Avernum EFTP is available for Macintosh users AT LEAST SIX MONTHS before PC, and still we're impatiently waiting every minute for it to come out. And guess what? It's the IPad version that comes next and then you just feel worthless! But more importantly and even more dangerously, you feel like garbage when you see that the IPad version costs half the price of the PC version. Excuse me, but that's SCANDAlOUS! Seriously, I've boycotted Avadon TBF for a long time because you've done that. Still, I've decided to buy it afterwards, cause I just can't boycott indie old school cRPGs when I'm throwing money for AAA ones. I sincerly hoped that I would not see that again for Avernum, but imagine my disappointement... Studios like Basilik Games are huge Mac supporters, still, they treat all their constumers on the same level. All the versions are out in the same time with the same price and evreybody is happy. Well, I know, you aren't Basilik, but I love your games as much as theirs and I really want to support both of you. I can understand that you cherish Mac, cause the IPad is more "bankable" than the PC or maybe cause Jeff Vogel is a Mac user I assume. But I just want to be treated like the others, recieving my game at the same time as the others and paying the same price as the others. Console players have to pay more than the PC because of the royalties, but there's absolutely no reason that I pay the double for the very same product available on Ipad, especially when that version came out way before mine. Thanks and sorry if I sound fulminating.
