Curious Artila runequester
As a linux user, I was wondering if anyone can help with which spiderweb titles work under WINE? Thank you in advance .
Easygoing Eyebeast keira
I'm pretty sure they all do, but the only one I'm certain on is the CBoE version of Blades of Exile. There's also a BoE Linux port happening...although I haven't heard much about it recently. E3 was also released for Linux, but I'm not sure if it's native or just wrapped in winelib, I've never tried it :|
Well-Actually War Trall Actaeon
All of the Windows ones, I think. At least, Tyran has implied as much. Can someone with actual experience back this up?
Easygoing Eyebeast Xaiya
I know Blades of Avernum worked with WINE on Ubuntu, though there might be some lag issues originating from sound issues. I've never tried any others, though there's no reason any of the older ones shouldn't work if BoA did. I suggest downloading the demos and trying for yourself. Alternatively, you could dual-boot with Windows XP. It's pretty stable (for Windows) and can play all of the games.
Curious Artila runequester
I'd rather not do the dual boot but thanks though I just noticed there's demo versions of most (all?) of these games, so that should be a decent test. Failing that, I'll have to see if I can get our old powerbook working again. I am assuming these games will work on a PPC mac?
Easygoing Eyebeast keira
They should, yeah. If not, I believe someone (Tyran?) made special versions that solve the whole intel/ppc issue
Understated Ur-Drakon Tyranicus
I have not tested every game, but as far as I know, they all work.
Curious Artila runequester
Well, each of the Avernum game demo's at least load up in WINE. Probably some sound issues, but sound seems to break in every other version of WINE so I am kind of used to that.
Easygoing Eyebeast Xaiya
Might be able to fix it if you mess around in WINE's sound settings. Can't remember if I got it 100%, but I'm sure I at least got it improved.
Magnificent Ornk Aran
I only remember testing A4 (though I might have tried out one of the Geneforges and BoA), and while A4 worked, the mouse was so sluggish I gave up and got out my ancient Windows XP laptop. It might be possible to fix that, though.
