Garrulous Glaahk SkeleTony
Playing the demo and decided to try the Romans out. My main tank, SkeleTonius, took the 'Rational Mind' trait of course but I am dismayed at just how ****ed up this trait is. I can understand(and fully expected) not being able to cast spells or such but not being able to drink a potion which is demonstrably, empirically capable of healing/curing?! And even worse not being able to use torches and lamps?! How is THAT 'rational'? It will be ironic if I discover plumbing I cannot use because I do not believe in aqueducts. LOL! Rotghroth Rhapsody Jawaj
If all it did was take away spellcasting, it wouldn't be much of a disadvantage at all for fighters, especially Romans.
Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
Potions make sense. They're no more empirically sound or unsound than wands. I think Rational Mind is a refusal to use these reality-bending items more than anything else. Lamps are a programming decision. The easy way to set up the trait was to prevent the use of items. Most usable items are magical. Light sources are collateral damage. —Alorael, who perhaps should think of Rational Mind as Irrationally Fixated on Mundanity. It makes more sense that way. Magnificent Ornk Aran
Visible light is a Theory, not a Fact. Keep an open mind. I have an "Intelligent Illumination" theory you may be interested in.
Hatchling Cockatrice Mea Tulpa
Rational Mind characters can still use Crystal Wands, though, can't they? No lamps but crystal wands is hard to reconcile.
Garrulous Glaahk Starman1985
No I don't think you can use crystal wands.

Garrulous Glaahk Starman1985
I like these games as much as the next person but not being use lamps for that reason is really lazy.
Hatchling Cockatrice Mea Tulpa
To clarify, crystal wands are a missile weapon found late in the game; I'm not talking about wands that can be used as a potion or scroll.

Well, you believe wrong, because Rational Mind doesn't prevent you from using them.
