Ineffable Wingbolt Superba
Yes I know, it's a bit late but I suddenly realized this is what I miss most of Avernum features. What do you think? Wouldn't it be nice to have Dual Wield in Avadon II?
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
I'd like it, but Jeff might think it's too over powering. At least it made it into Avernum: Escape from the Pit.
Ineffable Wingbolt Tirien
A good way to balance dual-wielding would be to nerf the damage both weapons do, along with accuracy some more, making it really only useful for bonus' that the offhand may have. At least untill you're far more trained in it.
Ineffable Wingbolt Superba
Yes, for what I remember in Avernum 6 there is a penalty for Dual Wield, also there is a Dual Wielding training skill to slowly improve, in this way Jeff already balanced the over power. Maybe something similar could be used in the future, I can see no peculiar in game contraindications...
Hatchling Cockatrice ex post slarto
The penalty is fairly minimial. It's a 20% penalty to damage and a random penalty up to -15% to hit, if you have zero Dual Wielding skill. However, it only takes about 10 Dual Wielding Skill to negate the majority of the penalty. Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
The current setup is that poles do more damage but sacrifice the defense of a shield, while swords do the opposite. Adding dual-wielding requires another axis or one option will dominate another. In A6, dual wielding did more damage and became the dominant strategy. —Alorael, who could see making a clearer distinction between defense by dodging and defense by damage resistance. As it is, everyone hits everything fairly quickly in recent games.
Ineffable Wingbolt Superba
Figure out a SW with dual wielding... wouldn't it be spectacular? His armor max percentage might be reduced to balance the skill?
