Rotghroth Rhapsody waterplant Posted May 14, 2010 Share Posted May 14, 2010 Following up on Lilith's inspiring rendition of 'aussie, aussie, aussie', the dramatic conclusion to the World T20 Semi-Final versus Pakistan prompted the Cricinfo text commentator to refer to a decades old quote from English sports journalist John Arlott which coined the term 'Australianism'. It reads: 'Australianism means single-minded determination to win - to win within the laws but, if necessary, to the last limit within them. It means that the impossible is within the realm of what the human body can do, there are Australians who believe that they can do it - and have succeeded often enough to make us wonder if anything is impossible to them.' John Arlott as relayed by Cricinfo. A little OTT to anyone who hasn't played Aus at cricket in the last 20 years. Pakistan lost the semi btw.
