  1. Who needs a spawner to boost xp when you can do something as easy as this. Wish I would have thought of it while I was still playing...

I had offered a similar recommendation as far as making the latest GF game much different from prior versions. I see the only problem with improbablility is that Jeff would spend a LOT of time working on a section of game that most won't even get to play due to timing. I don't think he'd want to spend a week on a section that only a small % of folks would get to play...
  3. I don't know how many levels I advanced thanks to the Spawners of old. I would do the same thing, just keep letting them make rogues and squish them for experience. Jeff became wise to the practice unfortunately.... Of course, you can always hang out at the infested swamps which never stop generating annoying thads....
  4. If you'll bring a Capuccino from Starbucks (located in Dhonal's Keep), the scent brings him to you in about 10 seconds....
  5. Holly, I am MOST thankful for the windows key that minimizes the program. I don't know HOW many times it has saved me from absolute shame for playing during work hours. Of course, I should be working right now, sooooooo.....
  6. Are you possibly trying to play GF3 while at work?! Oh my goodness if you are... I could see the need to have a smaller window that would be easy to minimize when the boss comes in. Welllllllllllllll....... I will say I've played all GF and Avernum and Exile games, plus a coupla other Spidweb games while at work... Probably been payed thousands of dollars to play games w/o them knowing over the past 8 years.
  7. Is the game worth playing through as a rebel with Greta when you've already played it once without her? I went back as a loyal and played with Alwan. It did add some different converstaions and a little different ending and just wanted to know others opinions. I've played the whole game through 4 times and had a hard time finishing this last one due to growing tired of the game...
  8. Does anyone else feel the need to clear EVERY red area before moving to the next island, or is it just me? I just can't stand to see a red area b/c I know there are rogues there that need to be sliced and diced....
  9. I agree that GF1 is still the best. Sequels need to build upon the first one and add new twists to keep the excitement there. The last two have the 'recycled' feel to them...
  10. For the weight of items like flawed crystals and iron bars versus the value of them, they really aren't worth carrying around. It doesn't take many of them to become encumbered. I find some of the best items to keep for the purpose of selling are gems, thorns (all types), even pods are good too. Items that are only 0.1 pounds are easy to accumulate without the encumbrance. Unfortunately, about the only things worth buying in the game are living tools and ability upgrades. There really isn't a need to buy armor, pods (maybe buy a curing pod or two), weapons, batons, etc. You find equally (or better) valuable items in random encounters than what you'd find in the stores. It seems the only rich people in the GF game are the trainers...
  11. The ending has some different wordings dependent on whether you use leass than 6 or 6 or more... But ultimately, it really doesn't make a whole lot of difference. I've seen both endings.
  12. Quote: Originally written by Leonor: Without giving away spoilers, which one from the series has a better plot and more moral options in your opinion? IMHO I'd say that the Shaper Loyalty has a better plot towards the end and offers more excitement than ther rebels. I played a loyal 3 times, and a rebel 1.
  13. Since this one takes place on a bunch of islands, don' tyou think it would have been fun to have some encounters on the sea between islands? Not necessarily every time, but once or twice. Maybe a ship full of rogues creations or a might sea creature rogue? I dunno, just something that would have been totally new to the GF series...
  14. There should have been an option to destroy the canisters so a loyal shaper would not be breaking the shaper ways and prevent others from using it as well. Or maybe he could collect them and turn them into Lord Rahul for a reward and disposal...
  15. Quote: Originally written by Tobias: I have the right, but cannot find the left, and would rather not just use shift+D exitzone in order to enter the basement. Can someone tell me where the other is? One is at the feet of a rogue golem in the Benerii-Eo Labs, the other is in the middle on the floor by a bunch of golems. You also need the gazer's key found in the monestary of tears to get in.
  16. Quote: Originally written by Harlequin: I have tried to start several new games but I was bored to death by the utterly slow begining. I agree with you on the very slow beginning. I wish the game would have the option of skipping the tutorial section. Most everyone knew how all the buttons worked on the first try since they are so close to the same thing on the other GF games.
  17. Sorry, I don't remember the number and can't even remember the id. I'm wanting to say it was 'Colt'. I called up Spidweb and they looked into it and said that for some reason, several id's were corrupted and could not be restored. This happened about 3 years ago now if I'm not mistaken. And as for the communication part, I there should be certain etiquite upheld and enforced, absolutely. But the enforcement needs to be left to moderators who are on here all the time. One member should never correct another member unless you want to post it privately to them about the mistake. Posting for all to see would likely make the original poster feel embarassed and uncomfortable, no matter how nice it is put.
  18. 26. During a heated battle, your melee charcters typically do NOT take the shortest distance between spaces. They tend turn run a circle around you or an object first. 27. When you die, you can always call up father time to reverse things just a bit to avoid the same result. 28. You can find a rolling pin, scapel, and tea cup in some of the strangest places. 29. No citizen on any isle has a wardrobe. They wear the same piece of rag each and every day. Though they may have a spare shirt or spare pants every now and then. I bet the places really smelled....
  19. For a lot of people, this is my opinion and everone knows what opinions are worth, higher post count earns higher respect. I was quite proud of my Adept status when I had it. I also had a 5 star rating at the time with a 3 digit member number. And will admit I was quite miffed at losing it. But I've learned over the last few years in life that a title and nickle can only buy you a cup of coffee. It's the person that brings respect....
  20. I for one don't think it a crime for the occasional double post. It should be looked at objectively and not so 'super-cop' oriented. I sincerely doubt Holly's intention was to increase her post count. Anyone that reads these forums on a regular basis can tell the difference between abuse or not. Sometimes I think the person pointing out is just boosting their own post count by doing it. In fact, most of the time it's not done by moderators as it should be. Let the mods determine if someone is abusing the CoC. And just so you know, I am not the newbie as my id indicates. I had originally joined in 2001, and had amassed quite a post count (with only maybe 5 or 6 double posts). But for some reason my account got corrupted and lost my id and count. I was told I would have to start over.
  21. They give an acid attack. So those creatures immune/resistant to acid will be much less damaged.
  22. oops. I thought I had thought of every option. But thanks for participating anyways!
  23. Just wondering how many times people have completed the game (if even once). I'm working on my fourth, but am quickly getting bored now...
  24. It seems that GF3 is losing it's appeal based on the few posts that are made anymore. No one is asking for help anymore, so this one has died down quickly. I remember GF1 had activity for quite some time.
  25. As open-ended as GF3 is, it would definitely appear that a fourth was on the way. I agree that unless some drastic changes in story lines occur, to come up with a new RPG from scratch.
