  1. In my run through of the game... I mostly used fire shaping I found... Battle shaping I found pretty useless, I always liked to shoot enemies from a distance anyway. In Gf2, I found plated bugs to be really nice, but in Gf3, they only do D4 damage. The fact that they do D4 instead of D8 makes them much weaker. Rotgroths get the acid, but they never fit into my strategy. (Dont even think about ornks...) Ironically enough, I found a drakon *very* useful later on, good health and has parry. Found that my drakon and uber-boosted (Dex mostly) fyora were always in the front, where no one could hit the fyora and the drakon's hp and parry helped... In Gf3, a cryoa is a must have, let alone maybe a cryodrayk. There are a lot of things which are only vulnerale to cold, and where going into melee was a bad idea, against vlish and gazers especially... Magic shaping, never liked artilas... dont know why... Vlish are *very* useful with the stun, and terror vlish can pretty much hurt anything that isnt a construct. They versatility makes them quite nice. Never liked glaahks though, don't like melee units... Gazers are nice, eyebeasts just dont seem to cut it... Anyway, i think you could dump Battle shaping, but I would take Fire and Magic shaping to about 5 or 6 naturally at most. Want to save the points for inty... Thats my *humble* opinion anyway...
  2. I find that the Awakened are just better at keeping thier skeleton closets hidden. Of the factions in G2, the awakened *seem* to be the most reasonable, and while Tuldaric is a "Large gaping Skeleton", that isn't the only thing working against the awakened. Its actually something I like about Gf2, as I think it would be pretty unrealistic if there was only one "moral" faction amoung so many ones that are just completely "immoral". Its one of the things I like about the GFs...
  3. In Gf2, it seems like *EVERY* faction is a large group of .......s DV sums up the awakened nicely, the Barzites take the worst of the takers and loyalists and combine them into a large colection of ..... The rebels/Takers are also *bad*, (Sarcastic tangent warning) ok, take EVERY canister you want, become a *Horrible* person running around *murdering* everyone who we dont like, become a horrible freak of nature.... and oh yeah,, help out some poor somewhat innocent serviles while you are out randomly killing everyone. The loyalists/Servants are the other worst end.. (Sarcastic Tangent warning) Ok, ENSLAVE and *Brutally* treat *any* creation that exists and kill *any* who show *any* interest in thierselves.. oh, and make sure horrible mutants dont blow up the world while you are busy torturing innocent creations. Sum it all up, *no* faction in this world is great, and.. go figure, the unaligned ending in G2 doesn't seem like a perfectly *moral* choice either...
  4. OK, just some statistics for ya... Melee weapons are D4 instead of D8, the damage is almost halved, and most battle magic spells are better, probably a change for the worse. Parry also is not as good in Gf3.(It was broken in Gf2) It parries on 2% per instead of 5% per, and guardians generally get a lot of parry, probably a change for the better as a guardian with about 16 parry was almost untouchable... And most of all, a lot of the spells got better, particularly the mental ones, and guardians dont cast a lot of spells... This is my thesis anyway...

  6. Another plus for the missile weapons in G3 was the resistances. I noticed that many enemies, (Like gazers) were quite resitant to anything except physical attacks, and oftentimes getting into melee was a bad idea.... Although one thing is bugging me. If you play a missile based shaper, you probably will have a fairly low strength, as the skill points are going into shaping and missile (And dexterity). Alas, theres no guardian claymore for you (Well...), and those crystals can pile up on the weight... (Think its .3 per, but im not sure)
  7. You *sure*? I *know* that when I use it it does about 30-40 damage a go....
  8. I started playing Gf2 (Again, i have *no* life...), as an agent. Ive found the terror spell fairly useful. I only wish i knew exactly how much damage it did...
  9. Ok, heres your answers... 1: I dont think its possible to create an Ur-Drakon without hacking into the coding. (Dont do that) 2: Yes, get 3 eyebeast ranks to get the gazer. Instead of kill, it uses aura of flames. Pretty nice, except against fire resitant enemies... and it burns out quickly. 3: No, besides, at that point, do you really *NEED* it? Edit: Slow typing, whoops....
  10. Quick question... In GF2, do canisters harm you in any way?
  11. Personally, I would like the 4/6 type creation limit removed. Especially if 3 new creations are being added, being able to only take 4 types might hurt. Besides, I like to have a combined arms force.
  12. Hostile Effect Resistance will protect you from ALL damage, fire, cold, acid, etc. (Not sure about physical) Still, Hostile effect Res is VERY useful. As for protection from weapons, im not exactly sure, it most likely protects you from physical attacks and nothing else, I know armor will help your resistances. And when all else fails, equip/de equip the select items, and then check your resistances/armor and see what changed.
  13. I was thinking.... I know that GF1&2 have a max type creation limit of 4, and GF3 a 6, (Well 4 if you take AL and Greta), BOO. Anyway, I was just wondering, if I could have a group with 7 different creations, what would I take? (Including the level four creations)I was just wondering what others would do.
  14. Im playing geneforge2 (actually, ive been playing for a while, so NO comment) and im playing a shaper (Always do). Anyway, through the tutorial, ive been going alone, (1 Creation XP penalty early hurts a LOT, 120-96). Ok, got to drypeak, did some "Creative shopthrifting" "Conduct of shady business practices" and some other "Creative" Ways to "Salvage" 280 GP. Anyway, managed to get a cryoa before leaving drypeak. Anyway, I know cryoas are pretty awesome, Esp early game, but later on, should I really keep him around? I mean, ive heard that some of the other creations (Like Drayks) are pretty awesome, and I can only take 4 types....
  15. The Bracelet is also nice for the 10 armor. And, yes, punching bag thahds are a classic use for them, but really, if you are an agent, there are better things to use.
  16. Drayks have a +60 To-hit chance. Be sure to before the battle cast warblessing and other things. Also, create 2 8 point thahd as punching bags, they will die on the first round, but this serves as a distraction. Do this and youll be fine. (If you are a shaper, have 3 drayks. If you are a guardian, have a VERY LARGE parry. If you are an agent.. ummm.. restart the game and play a different class )
  17. it means a +1 die damage, almost as if having an extra 1 melee/ranged/whatever when calculating damage. (If you are using swords, this probably means +1-7)
  18. Umm, ok, but i would rather have a weapon that hits twice, as if not, well then, everyone would just use a halbierd or whatever. In short, i would REALLY like to find a good way to give it 2 attacks.
  19. This poll is about whether you think the layalists have the moral high ground, or the rebels have the moral high ground, or, you could say that both sides are highly corrupt.
  20. OK, In some scenerio im making, i want to include some 2handed double bladed weapons. Problem is, its rather hard to do. I could make it 2 1handed weapons, but then theres always the problem of using 1 end and another weapon. I could give it a speed boost, but it gets messy with web/haste, and the speed can be used for other things. I could make it a flaming weapon, but then theres the fire res and armor problem. Im rather stuck and im not sure what i should do. I would appreciate any ideas.
  21. Ok,im playing as a shaper and i never improved my dex (2). Ok, im using an empathy blade (-1) and a sharing belt (-2). So, technically, my dex should be -1. However, when i look at my character, i have a dex of 0 (Man, im a klutz, how do i hold my weapon???). Anyway, i was just wodering if there was any penalty for (Supposed to) having a dex of -1.
  22. Remember, you start with a level of fyora, and you get 2 from Dwianna, but you can only get 2 thahd or artila from her, and you dont have the 1 extra level at the start, so, unless you get a canister/special upgeade, you dont get the improvement.
  23. A slight correction. With some effort, you can get cryoas. All you need to do is pay Dwianna(Whatever her name is) and you can get 2 fyora levels from her. (If i remember right, there is also a canister in the mines.)
  24. First thing... If you are playing on torment, anything you have can die very quickly. And, about using him right, i meant tactically, if he dies easily, then have some battle creations go in first, take a beating, then have Alwan go in. I really havent found him to be that weak.
  25. To be honest, i found alwan to be quite useful in battle. What i did was put all his points into endurance, and had the rest of the party do all the damage. So, maybe some of us arent using him right.....
