  1. Poke around, for there are several topics that go into a great bit of detail about this. As it stands right now, though, the general consensus is that it would be perfectly reasonable to give a slith Divinely Touched and Elite Warrior. But don't use a slith, because they suck in this game...go with nephils.

With a brief appearance inside the city itself to sneak past the Shade, and some small talk with a few mages, I finally surfaced behind the house of the ferry operator. But, wait, I'm still on the East side of the river. Any ideas that will help me thru this dangerous journey? There's more tunnel for you to explore. Go back down.
  3. I don't think you're really expected to do the entire underground cavern at once. I did it roughly in parallel with the "surface" and, while tedious, it wasn't too bad. Plus it was the worst thing I've hit through most of the Great Cave, so it does get better. Unless you don't like the Honeycomb, which apparently some people didn't...

  5. I never played Exile. In Avernum 2, they were indeed called shapers, but I'm pretty sure it was lowercase. Plus, as I mentioned, JV should avoid such things unless he's actually going to unite the worlds. Which would suck.
  6. Ah, yes indeed. Thanks much.
  7. They're going to end up uniting the two worlds, sad as that may be. Seriously, they keep on sharing graphics, and today I had a dialogue where a Vahnatai told me he was not a Shaper. Capitalized, and without mention of crystals. You'd think that JV would start to avoid stuff like that after these silly conspiracies start floating around unless they're true. Okay, maybe not. But they really ought to keep the graphics distinct even if the engines aren't.
  8. I could have sworn that I'd already picked them up, but they don't show up in my special items any longer. I've been back to Blosk and can't find them again, so, can anybody tell me where to find the Blosk maps?

I very much doubt they're faster than an actual search. Certainly they wouldn't be in the Geneforge/A4 engine. You get pretty quick at searching after a dungeon or two, and it's a convenient opportunity to pick up stuff you couldn't carry before.

  11. Look near the Drake in Motrax's caves for his tablets. I believe you can steal graymold from the healer north of Formello. And I haven't finished the game, but I very much doubt the iron bars quest grants anything other than warm fuzzies and cash.
  12. The Nephar carriers become Nephil Warriors instead of plain Nephil. As for resolutions, I like fairly big on-screen fonts, so I like 1024x768 on my PC desktop. I didn't swap out of 800x600 on those until I got a 17" monitor. On Macs, it varies...I got an 832x624 monitor with my 9600 but got used to higher reses on school iMacs and stuff. Plus downing my Powerbook's display to less than 1024x768 just looks nasty.
  13. It's not too difficult to destroy all the pylons and then kill him before he regenerates them. Though I got him down to about 20 hp before he reformed them and then just hacked away at 2-3 hp per hit because I didn't feel like destroying the pylons again.

Though as some of us are slowly realizing (I'm really slow sometimes), it doesn't much matter. Getting a higher level in the spell doesn't change the spell's capabilities any longer like it used to, and if you look at the spell power level, it's the sum of mage/priest, spellcraft, and the spell level (also presumably magery, but that's not in the manual). So the spell level adds between 1 and 5, whereas (by endgame, anyway), your other skills are probably responsible for something approaching 20 points. Kind of boring, really, given the costs of increasing spells that high.

Yeah, but with those you just had to take your time in moving through each section. The honeycomb has routes on top of each other that don't connect unless you move through half of the neighboring map.
  16. It's much more effective than previously with this continuous thing, and it also works well with the multiple-level-continuity thing. It's pretty awe-inspiring. But mostly I'm posting to complain about the fact that Mertis doesn't heal you itself. I mean, sure you can use the altar, but that's so much more work!
  17. If the same thing happens outside of the game, it's pretty much impossible that the game is causing it. As for what's actually causing the problem....well, it sounds like a dying video card at first glance (scrambled screen) or overheating problems. But neither of those seem very likely in an old eMac.
  18. Does anybody know if the displayed values are actual strings or if they check the weapon statistics (from wherever they are; I don't do Spidweb scripting )?
  19. There are a few nice workups going on QA, gymnastics, and things. Does anybody have one on magical efficiency verse intelligence and such?

  21. I haven't seen much use for a slith so far, but I have to tell you that as far as I've gotten polearms rock, and I'm not having any trouble keeping my main fighter alive even without a shield.
  22. Heh. I'm short on imagination, I'm afraid. Though I've got enough to come up with a little bit here.
  23. Does that thing where Kelda mentions Bragg (as she dies) go anywhere? Because I've just killed Bragg and got nothing, and it made me sad.
  24. I'm confused about how they work now. If you get a point from a spellbook before you've learned (from sages/mages) the spell up to level 2, is it possible to get to level 3 in that spell? I've just found the spellbook for Heal and I haven't previously learned it.

I mean, keyboard navigation still works, though I suppose it may be slower than it used to be (Powerbooks are not conducive to using a keypad, and I just can't get used to the little arrow keys)>
