  1. Notepad has the same feature. Just press "ctrl + G."
  2. Before I knew how to script, I had an endless supply of ideas. Now that I know how to script, I get no ideas.
  3. A BoA Geneforge scenario would be boring anyway. A BoE Geneforge scenario might actually be fun.
  4. New questions (GF1): 1) In the Shaper Crypt, I found the lone pillar/pylon in the narrow hallway (it's through the room of 11 mechanic crystals) and when I pressed it, it told me that I found an ivory rod. I didn't get it as an item or special item though. Nothing. Did the game screw up? 2) I'm at a point in the game where I know I should specialize in a certain branch of shaping, but I'm not sure which. My choices right now are either Magic (cheaper creation cost, cheaper skill cost) or Fire (Dryaks). The real question is Ghlaaks or Dryaks? Dryaks are stronger, have more hp, and have a ranged attack while Ghlaaks are cheaper in cost and can stun enemies. 3) Does battle shaping ever get balanced in the other Geneforges? Battle Betas suck and Battle Alphas are considerably weaker than the other third tier creations. They do less damage, they can't stun, they don't have a ranged attack, and their hp isn't that much better than Dryaks. Plus they aren't Cryodryaks or Ur-Ghlaaks.
  5. I never thought of Vlish as intelligent, just cunning, like a fox is cunning.
  6. Maybe he could also use it to change the chemical composition of his body to give it a fresh pine scent.
  7. I haven't had the pleasure of using a Rotgrhroth yet, but, from what I've heard, they make good meat shields and deal good damage. Rotghroth's wont be leading a rebellion any time soon. They aren't very smart and they can't shape. The biggest thing they might do is start a small Rotghroth community like the Battle Alphas in Freeplace (G1). Edit: Unless, of course, I'm completely wrong and you've accidentally stumbled onto Jeff's plot for G5.
  8. In general what level should you expect to be by the end of each Geneforge game. I want to know so that I can spend each skill point wisely.
  9. *bump* Few new questions: There is this Dryak that lives next to Learned Darian. He offers you information, items, and magic for your unused skill points. I prefer to use my skill points. I kill the Dryak. Why can't I loot his lair? Why does the game hate you for joining the Awakened? They don't do anything. When you join you don't get anything cool or useful (except for some combat techniques which my Shaper doesn't need), nor do any new doors open up. Ellhrah basically says, "Hey cool, you're an Awakened now. A quest? No, no, that's Taker talk my friend. You can sit around on your butt all day though. It's kind of what we do around here." I take back what I said earlier, the Awakened do do something. Apparently, if you leave their super secret special awesome club, Ellhrah restricts you from rejoining because you hurt his feelings. So, not only do I not have anything to do while an Awakened, I also cannot lie my way around other sects to get their cool stuff. Did I miss something important or am I just supposed to wander randomly around the island, averting my gaze from the interesting pro-Obeyer/pro-Taker quests until I find Trajkov and the Geneforge? I don't need spoilers for this last question, just a simple yes or no.
  10. There was a debate a little while ago that talked about the classes. If I recall correctly, Shaping skill bonuses quit after the tenth skill point. With the right items, you can apparently shape any creation without ever investing a single point into the skill set. The two best classes: Servile or Lifecrafter. Why? Neither class has a real weakness. Serviles get the most HP out of any class, are just as skilled in melee as a Warrior, and, unlike the Warrior, are proficient with spells. On the other hand, the Lifecrafter gets a huge essence bonus. You can essentially pump him full of defensive skills to offset his low HP and let an army of creations do the fighting. The rest of the classes have some sort of weakness. I'm not sure what effect this will have on your enjoyment unless you are powergaming. Edit: To directly answer your question, every time you invest in a skill two times, the cost goes up one skill point. Though this wont make a big difference at first, it eventually adds up. Characters strong in something will have a lower cost early game. For example: The Warrior is strong in fighting skills. His base cost for melee weapons is 1. The Lifecrafter is weak in fighting skills. His base cost for melee weapons is around 4 or 5.
  11. I just joined the Awakened and plan on returning to Pentil later, with a higher mechanics stat. I'd kill Rydell but I feel sorry for him.
  12. The FAQ mentions joining the Obeyers first. I already responded to many Awakened, so I'm wondering if my chances at joining both are shot.
  13. I'm playing a Shaper in GF1 and want to go pro-Awakened. However, before I do this I want to join the Obeyers to take all of their goodies. Unfortunately, I've already responded pro-Awakened to the Awakened serviles and I can't seem to revert my opinion enough to persuade Rydell that I'm Obeyer material. I have enough leadership to avoid the initiation quests. My main question is: If I've already given pro-Awakened responses to the Awakened serviles can I still join the Obeyers? More importantly, can I join the Obeyers and, after stealing their goodies, revert back to the Awakened? Also: If I want to join the Awakened, could I join the Takers (I have enough leadership to avoid killing Elirah) first?
  14. On a slightly related note, where can I stash my swag without it disappearing? I have maybe 3 free inventory spots left.
  15. Ever wonder what a servile looks like under that hood? Using Geneforge 4's graphics and the latest MS Paint technology, I have recreated what I believe to be an accurate rendition of these shy creatures unmasked. Do not try to hide your jealousy.
  16. Wouldn't you rather reap what you sow? I find games more fun that way.
  17. Is there anyway to remove the town every scenario starts with? I'm talking about the default medium sized town that IS NOT the Warrior's Grove.
  18. The only thing I liked about Stalker, as a character, was his reaction to your killing Jaen. We never hear about Stalker though, ASR's interesting conflict is shown through the Hill Runners, not Stalker. What doesn't make sense to me is that although Stalker got first place, Jaen wasn't even close to him. Jaen and Stalker are exactly the same, except that Jaen fights for the Empire and Stalker fights for the Hill Runners. Both had similar motives and tactics, and both believed that the ends justified the means. I think the reason that most of us think Stalker is interesting, is that, because we hardly ever see Stalker, we fill in the gaps in his character ourselves. The setting is what makes Stalker interesting.
  19. I can't believe Stalker won with absolutely no character development.
  20. Quote: People seem to forget that there was other inventions that made plate obsolete, other than crossbows and guns. Let's not forget how many knights were killed by tripping and falling facefirst into seemingly innocent puddles of water. Armor was pretty damn heavy.
  21. Quote: Wouldn't it be terrible if someone had intended to vote for another villain and voted for Kharprev by accident? I wanted to vote for Kharprev, but ended up voting for Rentar by accident.
  22. Without a lot of backstory, I think Maynard and Vakhos are both the best developed characters in BoA. Although DWTD doesn't strike me as a great scenario, it has interesting NPCs.
  23. Usually an unknown command due to variables means that you didn't specify variables at the beginning of the script. You might want to check, just to make sure. Example: Code: Begintownscript;variables;short one,two,three,four;body;etc...
  24. New question. Suppose I want a cutscene to trigger after a GROUP of enemies is dead, what variable could I use? And does num_killed_in_town(which_town) even work?
