  2. I look forward to a legion of Vahkohs-related jokes in betatesting and early release.
  3. I have to admit, after all the talk about not bringing back Rentar-Ihrno, I really didn't expect another twice-recycled villain. Meh. Otherwise it sounds cool. Battle disciplines sound like the biggest change in the Avernum skill system yet -- could be quite neat.
  4. Super Mario RPG was, indeed, a brilliant game. But even its system could be analyzed and powergamed. The possible point gains at each level up are 100% predestined but different for each choice; thus, there is a pattern to follow alternating between all three choices that will get you the highest total statistics. Even then there are further considerations when you consider how meaningless some of the HP bonuses are (particularly for Bowser). There are also hard caps on all four attack and defense stats which are high but very easy to run into if you use the Quartz Charm, Troopa Pin, Ghost Medal, Geno Boost, or the various stat-increasing items; meaning that raising your base offense above 255 before those boosts is not quite so useful, and given some of the weapon powers (Lazy Shell) it's quite easy to get to the point where this is relevant. Similarly, if you know you plan on giving someone (Toadstool) the Lazy Shell Armor, you can completely ignore the HP and physical stats, as they will be useless for her, and just pump her magic to make it less wimpy with the armor on.
  5. 1. The Geneforge forums do not need more pointless polls. 2. They definitely don't need polls with descriptive titles like "geneforge votes". 3. You brought this up in at least three different topics now, in one case reviving a dead topic to do so, and creating two new topics. That's called spam. 4. You are shouting at other people to order them around. 5. You are making disingenuous statements about the next game to be made. While this is mostly harmless, it could be confusing for new visitors. 6. For the last time -- well, probably not -- Blades of Geneforge is not going to happen in the foreseeable future, and neither is a Spiderweb MMORPG. Any of these things individually would be excusable. All of them together constitutes a hideous mango.
  6. Unless my memory has completely failed me, Luck provided 2% to hit and to dodge in G1, too. I think it was subject to the 10-cap rule though, so you need 12 Luck for the 11th effective level, 14 for the 12th, etc. And where are you getting these item drop numbers? 0.01% is a bit more precise than can reasonably be arrived at without having access to the source code. It sounds like you may have combined different, slightly inaccurate statements from different FAQs...
  7. Perhaps this is a silly question, but what does your cheat script do that the built-in character editor can't?
  8. On Torment, the healing they get under that strategy is prohibitive. "OCD" does not even begin to describe what is needed to take down all of them on Torment...
  9. It only counts as a protomac if you spell it ][e.
  10. When I said "levels in dodge-enhancing skills" I indeed meant levels in a skill, not experience levels.
  11. The problem is it's not a 40% chance to dodge, it's a +40% bonus to your chance to dodge -- which often starts out extremely low (read: negative) against stronger enemies. You need an awful lot of levels in dodge-enhancing skills to get a respectable chance of dodging.
  12. Luck does not save lives in Geneforge. It doesn't in Avernum 4, either.
  13. How could this possibly be done other than using save files? The flags have to pertain to a particular timeline of a particular party. If I clear VoDT and save it as Save A, then continue on to clear ASR and save it as Save B, then reopen Save A on go on to play ZKR, the game should have flags from completing VoDT but not ASR -- and that will only be the case if they are tied directly to the individual save file. In which case, they may as well be in the save file itself...
  14. The feeder abilities seem to be more or less interchangeable. Or at least, I have often noticed that I can raise a score by adding either 2 Luck, 2 Roman Training, or 1 of each, when it won't raise for 1 Luck or 1 RT.
  15. Endurance sucks in every Spiderweb game. It's often worth buying a couple of cheap points later in the game, but (with the exception of Geneforge 4, in which its impact was ramped up) it has such a small impact on your HP, percentagewise, that it's rarely worth paying attention to; the fact that it is entirely dependent on PC level is just kicking a dead horse. The bonus to resistance stats has never been particularly noticeable or useful, either.
  16. IFM, your post is inflammatory. And you attacked Ceylon for making a simple observation. Consider this your official warning with regard to making personal attacks.
  17. The Misc. reference was clearly to the scripts.
  18. Getting to 10 natural AP is HUGE as it gets you an extra attack every turn, including when hasted. Melee fighters actually care about it the least since everyone else can fire off shots without moving at all. If you are only working with one character, or are cheating to get extra shields, the bulwark is by far the best option, as the AP boosting shoes have a big penalty and the armors are significantly worse than other options. This is assuming you use the Cryos Spear (in a quick use slot) for the other extra point.
  19. What real editor? Avernum 4 has no editor.
  20. Why not post all your odd questions here?
  21. If you have been marked as a murderer, you can't remove the curse. You could cheat to remove the mark and then remove the curse normally, however. The curse is, as far as I've seen, hardcoded, so you can't remove it with the editor.
  22. I think the formula in the bazaar is that you need to cross the rune AND steal 1 or more items. Would that make sense with your results s?
  23. I think it's just completing Goagh-Nar that gives SVF an infinite supply of Healing Elixirs to sell. (Maybe it was Aethdoc instead?) You can also make Restoration Brews, which provide even better healing.
  24. The Guardian Spirits never leave after finishing a task. It's in the original Nethergate that they *always* leave after a task. Are you sure you set off all the alarms, then left town entirely?
  25. Synergy -- are you sure about the number of boxes? In my testing triggering a single alarm would result in your being jailed. There are however several different ways to avoid triggering the alarms, including Tool Use, Luck, and a Guardian Spirit.
