Paying the tax collector.
Yeah for sure! Maybe a tax could be automatically collected upon entering a town, say 1,000 gold -
Like I said trainers are not needed because we have skill points.
Gold could be used to bribe mayors to give you quests, buy horses, pay thugs and rogues to join you in an attack, help a poor camp of refugees etc. It doesn't all have to be about weapons and armor. Money could be as useful in Avadon as it is in the real world.

I found some Egypt Pics
No joke, the mummy spent roughly 100 years in Niagra Falls Canada.

I have no interest in optimisation, it's boring. Killing things and using potions/scrolls as I get them is way more fun.
But Yeah I totally agree that the shops should sell items that are better than you can find on some dead Goblin. Some of the shops should at least.

You're a G!

I'd like to see no trainers and no stat boosts from random puddles, walls, etc. Skill points are all that's needed.

I'll replace Redbeard.

It was before your time, child. It was before your time.
And man, what a good time it was! Thanks for posting that.

So far yeah, but they've been working on some cool stuff too. Like I said they don't have the space or resources to live like we do so they'll have to start in on some renewable energy at some point, and in fact they already have. -
Genetically modified or synthetic life is fine in my books, but owning the thing is not.

I bet you China will be the country that leads the "Green revolution". They'll be forced into being a leader by their own growth.

Actually we all had that power briefly. -
Yeah it's too bad about the whole patenting life thing. That was a bad move by the US government. If I remember correctly the patent office refused the first attempt to patent a life-form, but the federal gov't stepped in and allowed it.

While we can effect it a little, our sphere of influence does not currently exceed that of the globe.
Last time I checked, humanity is and was and will remain the only... thing... capable of wiping out the entirety of Earth's biosphere at will. That's hardly a "little" sphere of influence.
You're not because I wont let you. -

One of my friends goes on and on about how Canada should develop it own space programme and launch solar panels into space, then use microwave beams to transmit the power to Earth.
As for dams, yes they wont work everywhere. But when they can be used they should be. Solar panels have a very short lifespan compared to a big block of concrete. It doesn't have to be a traditional dam either we could use small turbines positioned to the side of rivers connected by pipes to the water source. The environmental impacts of dams are overstated in my opinion.
Another option nobody has mentioned is using people to generate electricity, for example by running on a treadmill. I think there's even clothing that generates power.
-
Hydro-electric is about as green as it gets for energy production. Land gets flooded but one large dam can provide a lot of power. The province I live in is almost entirely powered by dams and run of river. Unfortunately dams don't get mentioned much when it comes to green energy.

Drew? I've been here a long time and can honestly say I don't remember anyone going by that PDN.

If I remember correctly the UNs plan is for the West and similar areas to reduce consumption of fuel etc to allow 3rd world countries to increase consumption, and we'll meet in the middle.

Capitalism isn't all that bad of a system really. But the end-point of capitalism where we have monopolies is terrible. If we could somehow stop companies from getting to the Walmart stage I think we'd be Ok.

Air (oxygen) is not in short supply. We have more than enough to last us several hundred years without any input. Oxygen isn't a limiting factor for life but CO2 is. Although we're trying hard to change that.
