  1. Er, not every name listed above is a publicly displayed name, I think. Could someone clear up discrepancies please?
  2. Hmm. So if Domont gets a role wrong, i.e. SIC BANDITS ON *i AS CRANKY MODERATOR but *i is actually the Benevolent Administrator, wouldn't the conspicuous lack of banditry alert Domont to his mistake? That might not be too bad a problem since it would mean that Domont has wasted an action, I guess.
  3. I think it would be too hard for the DLs to coordinate in such a way. If all they have is one-way communication from Domont to the two others, the Blademaster (say) can't reply to an order with "I can't do that because X knows who I am and anyway I've already acted". Also, the DLs wouldn't be able to trade items. Gladwell starts off knowing the Bound Servant, the Anama Priest and Micklebur start off knowing each other; I think the DLs should start off knowing each other too. By the time we managed to get in contact with each other, other alliances were further along. I'm not sure how to rework Domont's role in light of this.
  4. I think a problem with the Adventurer/Spy, and maybe also with the DLs, is that since they have a wide range of possible targets, no one wants to risk allying with them. Maybe their failure is also linked to Machrone's relative success? Maybe Machrone needs to be part of a successful alliance, which prevents Spy/Adventurer from joining if they have him as a target? Thus, even though they can get by with only killing two people, no one wants to risk it being them. Maybe we could try reducing their target lists and see what happens. In any case, their having Machrone on their list doesn't seem to be hurting him any.
  5. Who told Omlette that he was a target of ours, by the way? Looking at the past games, I notice that only two darksiders have ever won, and in separate games at that. I think it's hard for them to build alliances because they need a lot of people dead, and they don't have as much to offer allies as do the Anama and Gladwell. Perhaps their secret targets serve as a disadvantage because they make them less trustworthy. I don't think it's (only) my own ineptness since they have consistently failed to exert much influence.
  6. I misplayed. I thought Excalibur was Ronaldo, and should have attacked him instead of cursing him. Is it intended for the Darkside Loyalists to take as long as they do to identify each other? I managed to confirm Domont's identity even without being sent a keyword — by quizzing him on our targets — but I'm not sure if we lost so quickly due to deficient playing or because our enemies had a natural advantage.
  7. Regarding Machrone's ability: Do you guarantee a truthful answer? What's to stop coercive questions like, "Will you answer no to this question or give me a list of every player and their role?"
  8. Well, I told Dikiyoba that Ash was the priest because that's what my faction informed me. Admittedly, I was working somewhat outside my faction's endorsement, so maybe we all could have coordinated more. My job was pretty easy. None of my enemies made it into this round, and I was one of Gladwell's targets so I had a built in support network. It's pretty easy for Oliver and Strine to work together, I think, if they can identify each other; one needs lots of items, and the other needs to make lots of items. I thought TM and Sarachim played Gladwell/Servant very well. In particular, for TM to pose as the skribbane addict initially was a good way to try to locate his target Strine. I didn't get the impression that Shanker was very effective this round, but maybe I just didn't see what was going on behind the scenes. EDIT: Others have commented on Shanker's situation better than I.
  9. no new stuff in the mod shop?
  10. Hello everyone. As you may have heard, I'm Craftmaster Strine. I'm willing to make items for people in a mutually beneficial arrangement. Items I can make are on the left, followed by the ingredients I need. Crystal Spire = Killer Poison + Ironskin Balm Heroic Brew = Warding Crystal Wand of Death = Antidote + Resistance Elixir Poison Potion = Disruption Crystal Rod of Alacrity = Ivory Skull PM me if you're interested.
  11. Did anyone ever actually confirm my identity? I'm wondering whether it would have been possible for Vahkos to pretend to be the Bound Servant in order to obtain the Holy Symbol.
  12. "Game Moderator resurrects Micklebur" huh? In any case, thanks Stareye for moderating! It was a fun time. I won despite being largely in the dark about most of the roles; I basically relied on the absence of the Infiltrator after I felt Gladwell die and then threw myself on the mercy of the other players.
  13. I'd like to borrow the Holy Symbol from whoever has it. I'll give it right back, I promise.
  14. Big deal, I know who the Anama are too. Send ME the wand of death.
  15. I like the Channeler's ability too, though I can't think of a good goal either. Maybe take a page out of The Sixth Sense's book: the Channeler has to satisfy a certain number of dead players' goals.
  16. On the other hand, if giving Skribbane is allowed, then one can team up with the Skribbane Addict and plant Skribbane on someone, giving the Skribbane Addict first strike against them, turning it into a game of Hot Potato. (I failed to apply this strategy last game, but I think it could work in principle.) I don't see how to resolve both of these problems simultaneously.
  17. Was Creator the one to destroy the DL alliance? My poor decision to use the assassin leather to try kill Doom Warrior was partly at fault; even if Creator put DW on my trail, I would have killed DW first had I just used magic. Great game! Thanks Stareye for running it.
  18. .meg is Jeff's invented format, which is why you won't find any official reference to it in other programs. Have you tried renaming the file you get from Graphic Converter to have a .meg extension?
  19. Email Jeff (spidweb@spidweb.com), and tell him the new code as well as the name you registered BoA under.
  20. What version of the BoA app (not the scenario editor) are you guys using? I remember a while back that placing stains via script calls was broken as of 1.1.2, and I posted a fix on the Lyceum. The fix was eaten by ezBoard, unfortunately, and I don't have a record of it. Are you still getting the error for 1.2? EDIT: Okay, I figured it out again. The blood/rocks for "dried blood" is actually a feature; it's what the dried blood is supposed to look like. Through black magic I have figured out that it is impossible to make stains stack with script calls, although setting stacked stains in the editor should work fine (via OR-ing together the various values; 1 for small blood, 2 for medium blood, 4 for large blood, etc). Furthermore, the behavior Aran described is correct: as long as only blood is placed, it increases in amount; the same goes for slime. Putting blood on slime or slime on blood erases whatever was underneath. Dried blood, bones, and rocks are each in their own category and erase anything underneath them. Or rocks would, if one could actually place them. I have also uncovered a secret ritual that would allow one to use scripted calls to place rocks as well (i.e. fix the limit to include 8), as well as optionally fix the numbers to reflect those stated in the docs. Unfortunately this secret ritual is way too profane to state on these boards, and is so difficult that only experts in the dark arts can perform it (as well as anyone with access to certain kinds of file editors, the name of which is forbidden here; such persons would also have to perform the ritual on only the Mac OS X Universal version of BoA 1.2). If anyone is still interested, let me know. Unfortunately, BoA 1.2 fixed a script call that in previous version lacked bounds checking; that loophole might have provided a workaround. P.P. Just to confuse matters, if you want to use is_stain_on_space, I think you should use the values as stated in the appendix.
  21. For the code snippet manager: How about adding an option that will let the user customize where the insertion point starts? For instance, the text for "pause" could be: Code: 1. force_instant_terrain_redraw();2. pause(#); Where the code snippet manager treated "#" as a selection indicator: Whenever "pause" was selected, the code would be inserted but with the "#" selected. Then one could do command-1 (or whatever keyboard shortcut it's assigned to) and then immediately enter the number.

  23. I've actually thought fairly extensively about NPC's moving through doors, and I've arrived at some possibly workable solutions. One method might look as follows: 1) Duplicate the door terrains to create another set that looks the same but is not blocked for movement. 2) Alter basicnpc.txt (or create a new NPC script) to do the following: At the beginning of the NPC's turn, change all door terrains in the town into the second, non-movement-blocking variety. At the end of the NPC's turn, change them back into regular doors. 3) Change the door.txt script (or create a new door script) to do the following: Every turn, make a note of the placement of all NPCs surrounding the door. In the next turn, if the door was closed and the arrangement of NPCs has changed in the appropriate manner, open the door (and optionally print a message or play a sound). This configuration would not alter doors from the player's perspective, since the doors would be normal while the player moved. Some interesting problems to consider might be locked doors, locked doors to which some NPCs have keys, and so on. Other complexities might be line of sight issues, for instance when to print a message or play a sound. I'm fairly confident that all of these issues could be solved, given enough motivation. I lack that motivation, but hopefully I've provided a blueprint for someone else to work with. I've had more technical ideas than I've posted here (e.g. about how exactly to implement the door/npc scripts), so if anyone has any desire to actually implement this and wants suggestions, let me know.
